Re: No wiki?

I'd love to help you help us! But I don't understand "It looks like images havent been imported in the wiki". Oodles of images have been imported. On pages that have them, you can view them from the "files" link at the bottom.

Could you elaborate, or link to pages that used to have images?

Re: Kodak EasyShare

I have a Kodak easyshare, but i decided to upgrade to two Canon A540s. It's nice to have the Kodak sitting around to grab and use to snap pics, the Canons stay attached to my scanner. Since you can't take pics using the USB, you'll have to use a mechanical trigger, something like the `pneumatic' sec...

Dual Cameras on Kit with Canon + CHDK

I happen to have two Canon A540s that I've modified by hooking a wire up to the 2xAA battery input to provide power from a pc power supply. modified_a540.jpg The kit had an AC plug for the overhead light, so I decided to "do as they do in Rome" and use the bulky pc power supply to power both cameras...

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

EDIT: Added more images, with focused laser lines. My rig came in the mail yesterday, had just enough time to do make an image test set today. I haven't set up the chdk camera yet, images may have moved slightly. Haven't done anything myself with the images, but I thought I'd make a difficult-to-cor...

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

These simulated-book renders are approaching works of art. Anonymous, any chance you can upload the model/associated files somewhere so that we can all play along? If bandwidth is an issue I can help host, and I'm sure others have space too. While I'm requesting, can we get a code dump from your lin...

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

Two things, first a bit of code and then some general discussion. Thanks to blender's posting of his binarization code, I was able to write up a procedure to extract the slope of the laser line at each point: #!/usr/bin/env python import os, sys, math import cv import Image, Gnuplot imagePath = sys....

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

"Straightening the laser line" would only work in the case that the laser line was "parallel" with the lines of text, which it isn't in that image. Imagine that page flattened out, and notice that the green laser line crosses multiple lines of text. We must instead view this laser line as a scale-in...

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

It doesn't account for the perspective distortion present when you take the picture, which radially warps the image. You mean "lens distortion" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distortion_%28optics%29 . Perspective distortion means "information lost/modified due to a perspective transform" such as when...

Re: Methods To Sense The 3D Surface/Structure Of A Book

I need to assume that camera is parallel and perpendicular to the laser line. If i know the angle I think I can calculate this into the algorithm. This approach would be less useful in the general case (camera placed wherever), but may give higher quality results. Please go forward with this, and b...

Re: Even then Odd pages, can scan tailor combine?

For the OpenCV version, the problem is in allocating more memory for filenames. In the libjpeg version, the problem is in freeing some memory for filenames. These both imply malloc() isn't able to get enough memory, are you running on a resource-constrained system? I'll freely admit I have no experi...
