Re: Free PDF OCR (via Layer) from Tracker

Ahha. Just read again what I wrote and it seemed like an ad... <joke>I wish Tracker read that and then offer me a free license of the pro version.</joke> Regarding free PDF printers, I recommend PDFCreator too. The interface isn't the slickest but...... I forgot, I just tried a few and think it's th...

Re: Free PDF OCR (via Layer) from Tracker

Welcome!

Off-topic: There are many free (of charge, but some are adware-supported) PDF printers out there, why would you consider paying 37USD for one, if that's what you want...?

Cheers.

Free PDF OCR (via Layer) from Tracker

Just found out the latest release of PDF-XChange Viewer (a Windows app) has OCR functionality, it's even available in the free version. Gave it a quick try on one of my outputs, result from black text on white background is excellent.(excerpt: http://ifile.it/zl7ug92) The basic install includes 4 la...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?

Would like to know the reason for abandoning the project - Technical...? Cost...? Market...? @drleonunes: Thanks for keeping us informed, but what's the point of posting all those email addresses...? In particular some of them don't seem to be sales-related...? You aren't thinking that spamming them...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?

AFAIK, there are many utilities that can do such kinds of conversion, some are even open source, but whether the final output is of good quality is another matter.

Cheers.

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?

There are lots of software that can turn TIFF/JPG into PDF. For instance, some of them can even OCR the content. But to incorporate the functionalities from the like of ScanTailor (e.g. page splitting, deskewing, adding/removing borders...) is another matter. However, since the design should allow f...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?

Yeah, think the "Wii handle" was a rather good design ergonomically.

The tent may be useful to make the light is better distributed and reduce reflection, similar to a light tent in photography. It could be rather useful for when scanning glossy pages...?

Cheers.

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?

Do they include a software suite as well...? I was under the impression that they're only selling the hardware. If they do, I can imagine the difficulties. Obviously they're not going to include something like Adobe Acrobat at the price point they've been suggesting. Even if they make use of the var...

Re: What software is good to stitch together images into pdf

PC? Mac? Linux?

Personally I used PDFBeads, which runs on Ruby and is available on all 3 platforms.

There are numerous threads and posts about this, but you have to spend some time to check them out.

Cheers.

Have never really figured out how to use myself, but sounds like what BookScanWizard can do. Check it out.

Cheers.
