Re: Fujitsu ScanSnap SV600

I'm sure the book thickness limit can be overcome: my thought would be to put it a little higher and get some memory foam underneath the book as in: http://diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1031&p=10317#p10317 possibly foam cut in the middle (into two half-foams). That and an aut...

http://www.ivona.com/en/news/amazoncom-announces-acquisition-of-ivona-software/ I have good experience with this software, I do not use iphone though and only use macs if I have to. Android app and voices are free at the moment. Wikipedia says: "IVONA is compatible with Windows, Unix, Android, ...

Simplifying 3D surface

Something I always thought obvious and stupid - partly because it is. But so am I. So, for the benefit of the members of the audience on my level I decided to try and discuss it. Sorry if someone else has already done that in a different thread. So the thing is lot of people when reading a book hold...

Re: Google open-sources a DIY page-turning scanner

[...] I suspect this scanner would have problems with small paperback books, being that they are naturally closed and light weight. They would tend to move up and away from the saddle as the book moved back and forth.[...] You could probably make one of these pretty cheap using MDF/plywood with a s...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

OK, I understand slightly better - sorry for unhelpful comments. I once emailed the guy who worked with an upside down scanner: http://www.geocities.jp/takascience/lego/fabs_en.html hoping that may be he would join this forum or gave me some info but he never replied... I would like to bring to your...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

Daniel may have the time to comment why he stopped at a certain book size -perhaps there are technical issues. My two cents worth: Definitely try the flat bed scanner first. They claim: "2.5 sec for an A3-size color" scan - this is definitely worth checking out in practice. I am pretty sur...

Re: split imeages

The image quality does not scare me, however... Do I see correctly that the scanner offered at taobao does not have a platen? Does that mean that it could only scan thin magazines or do they have a solution to focusing?
Thanks for posting that!

Re: Destructive scan: page removal

I think I have seen this link somewhere in this forum (sorry - can't find it at the moment): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M95Ob4kIak I think the important point is that the guy first put the book-holding boards into the vice without a book. They went as deep as possible and rested in a stable pos...

Re: alternating pages

On a second thought may be a simpler solutin is to change the way you arrange or name your pictures files before you feed them to the OCR?
