Re: Archivar - wooden scanner based on Archivist

Nice O-Ring fastener idea. Good find on the cheap tool balancers. I paid three times as much for the one on my lastest scanner.

Simply brilliant. I would love to see details of your lighting set-up and a video of your scanning operation. Thanks.

Yeah, I want the 90 degree cradle for the same reasons. Once you get your cameras set up for the lights, you could have the individual lights fire just as their corresponding cameras fire, almost like flashes.

How about synchronizing and sequencing the lights and cameras? Camera 1 fires with only the RH light on. Camera 2 fires with only the LH light on.

Re: Which one is better? Platen's angle 100 or 90 degree?

Could you instead of raising the height of the light source, simply put a shade or baffle between the light source and the books so that light falls only on the pages? The problem isn't that the light hits the the "outer" portion of the platen that isn't covering the actual page (you can ...

I like this, especially the way the platen drives the cradle down to a set point so the cameras are always focused. Got any more video?

Re: Commercial Full Auto Book Scanner

Thanks dpc for your excellent reply. Yes, post-processing software is important. I have no experience or ability in this area. Either the user would have to resort to free software or somebody else would have to produce the software to go along with the machine. Quiet air compressors are available a...

Commercial Full Auto Book Scanner

I'm trying to decide whether or not to build a full auto scanner to sell. It would be a more streamlined table top version of this : https://forum.diybookscanner.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=2776&start=40. The scanner's robotic actuators would still be powered by compressed air so it would requi...
