Re: Frustrated with Margins - resulting in 8 questions
Abmartin, Tks for responding. re c) Since we can't set a manual page size in scantailor, the only way to guarantee that left and right pages are the same size is to do them together. I guess I could use the same page (say front or back of the book) as a reference for both left and right sides, could...

Frustrated with Margins - resulting in 8 questions
As the title suggests, I'm very frustrated with trying to use Scantailor's margin options (and just Scantailor in general) I've looked at the instruction videos, tried to read other diybookscanner posts on ST etc, read the Scantailor wiki - all to no avail. Scantailor has a lot of useful features an...

Re: Scantailor preprocess script
Abmartin,
I used a free online service (forget the name now) to convert the eps file to pdf - it is possible that the error was introduced there.
I'll try pablitoclavito's method of using Linux to generate the pdf.

A review of the YASW software written by tibob
I thought it would be useful to the community if I wrote a brief review of the 'YASW' application program that tibob has developed. http://www.diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2688&p=15208 The program can be used in stand-alone mode, or as a pre-processor for Scantailor / BSW. W...

Re: Scantailor preprocess script
i) I'm curious to know whether ppmunwarp will handle the case where the book surface is not perfectly flat, but has a curve to it ? ii) Thanks for posting the 11x17 and 11x14 calibration sheets - however when I printed them out, it appears that the printed area does not change and is the same size a...

Re: Dr. Cheap's software & workflow
Hello, Please refer to this post for background: http://www.diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1282 Since you seem to have experience with running a batch process in GIMP, I wanted to ask whether the program you suggested would be able to automate the running of a plugin (like deskew)...

Re: Correcting for perspective distortion
Spamsickle, Thanks for the response re. outQuad. Just need confirmation - - If I have a rectangular chessboard (instead of square) then just need to make sure that the aspect ratio is preserved, whatever the actual L and W dimensions. - If I have to compensate for aspect ratio, then would elongate t...

Re: Correcting for perspective distortion
I too originally started with C/C++ - I was able to access my webcam, and get some simple image processing programs to run, but when I started to do things like 'findHomography' or other slightly more complicated programs and they crashed without warning, it proved to be too frustrating to debug. Ma...

Correcting for perspective distortion
For no particular reason, I've become interested in the underlying computer vision concepts that are used in book scanning. Using the code that OG200 posted, as a starting point, I've actually managed to get a working setup of Python with OpenCV2. (had to jump through a few hoops to do that, and int...

Anonymous2,
how were you able to scale down to a different size ? An example of a command that you used (ImageMagick/Gimp) would be very helpful.
Tks
