Re: Google open-sources a DIY page-turning scanner

CIS/CCDs are the only real way to get consistently clear scans that require minimum post processing. This guys effort is really a good first step. Page turning is a choice: Fast Cheap Reliable Pick two. I can envision a simple roller sensor to detect double page turns.... a 20lb page is slightly mor...

Re: Break the workflow...

I wish you continued success on Scantailor, but to be honest its not worth my frustration to try to get your workflow system to complete.

Convert -deskew, and GIMP with deskew plug in is working well, and I can get all of the other functions from other tools.

Break the workflow...

I've toyed around with ST for over a year as updates come out. Is there anyway to break the workflow? Ie deskew then output? Way to much stuff is getting messed up when I have to set margins or do the 'other steps' that are not required. Does the CLI version do this? I mean you should be able to ls ...

Re: GIMP and DESKEW... wow

phpBB3 search is a basic text search... so yeah, its kinda poor. Only advice I can offer is to use the google site: search, but I don't know if there is a direct plugin for phpbb3 But from google if you enter: site:diybookscanner.org deskew It will limit search results to the domain after 'site'. Th...

Re: GIMP and DESKEW... wow

The only option I have is 'Report' and 'Quote' at the top. If you are having permission problems log in an administrator, go to the ACP, select the Permissions tab, then the Permissions Mask in the lower right. That will show you what permissions are available, and how they are inherited by user, gr...

GIMP and DESKEW... wow

If you use gimp there was a plugin written in 2008 called 'deskew'. I got it running on my SLACKWARE 13.37 system and it is QUICK and ACCURATE. Here is a before: predeskew.JPG And AFTER: The canvas is showing through on the corners... and this was about 3 seconds of processing on a grayscale TIFF im...

Re: jck57's Automatic Scanner Build

I would consider using rubber wheels/rollers on the very edge of the page. I work on printers all day and you would be amazed at what a rubber roller and the proper amount of spring pressure will accomplish. As the platten lifts step the rollers 'into' the pages so they are pulled away from the risi...

Re: Fix Keystoning via hardware adjustments

arm.gif The green is something like 1/2 tube where you can get those locking collars for. 3 pivot points and you are done. The head of the arm where the camera goes has a flat reference piece (a few sq in) and you use a piece of squared off wood or metal to calibrate the angle of the head (which th...
