Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?
Since Nov 2012 I've decided to use an A3 flatbed scanner specifically made for books, the Plustek OpticBook A300. I won't look back. The scanner has an A3 platter which is very convenient. Sometimes to scan 2 facing pages simultaneously if the spine can be pressed flat. Many books seem slightly wide...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?
Cannot confirm the resale but Konrad at the time said they would reconsider and restore the manual control in the side bar instead of on top of the camera. However, I've been looking around for something similar and ended up with Plustek OpticBook A300 A3 flatbed scanner with a bookscanner side, i.e...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?
The cradle is indeed nice but in the end it all boils down to proper cameras because that's what makes the photos/scans. For stereo pictures it is not useful as it requires two flat objects to be photographed - not a 3D object that would be even more out of focus. I understand that tomorrow (28 Aug ...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?
For better comparison, I put the same page as used with Book Saver on my flatbed HP 3770 scanner at 300 dpi and reduced the final JPG to "small medium size" in Photoshop (from 3 Mb to 1.9 MB) as not to take unneccessary forum space - it may make the comparision slightly unfair but if I can...

Re: Ionaudio Booksaver?
It would interfere less with the image but all the more with the reflections of the camera or surroundings. I think this is what they wanted to avoid. I agree with LA that 140 euros is a low-end market price (as are most Ion products) and was certainly not expecting Royal Library quality but a lot b...

Where is your book without current?
I need to add one thing against any electronic book: when last week I suddenly suffered from a power outage (rare, but it happens even in the Netherlands) for some hours I realized that I could not read any book on my pc, only those on my eReader until the battery depleted. But there was still about...

Re: New Scanner Tech Watch Thread
Actually 140 euros (which is $160 or so) includes the dual camera. But unfortunately, the results are not good. Washed out pictures and not very focussed. Which is a shame, as a low-level entry offer it could sell well. But camera is top priority, not end of the list (same as HiFi and speakers).

BeBook/iPad
I have a BeBook White eReader that (contrary to my initial perception) I love to use reading a text-only book. The page size is just right or you can make it so by enlarging fonts, the batteries go a long way (if WiFi is turned off or standby) and you can read it in broad daylight. The contrast also...

ScanSnap S1500 procedure
I've used a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 dual page scanner that accepts approx 50 sheets of paper and can scan it both sides and output 150, 300 or 600 dpi JPG b/w or color images or collect them inside a single PDF document. The sheet feeder can be kept full by adding new sheets while it works. The scann...
