Re: ScanTailor_multi_core -- speed up processing

Thanks for this.

Have you ever come across any way of doing this on a Linux box? Looks like AutoHotKey doesn't work on Linux. Ideally I'd like to turn ScanTailor into a linux script. I'll ask the same question over at the ScanTailor forum.

Thank you!

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

For me a plain USB keyboard hacked to work as a trigger works well but it's not 100% bug free yet. I have also tried a foot pedal but both are using CHDK and ptpcam - documented here: https://github.com/markvdb/diybookscanner/wiki/Software-triggering-on-Debian-GNU-Linux Once I get it closer to bug f...

Re: ScanTailor_multi_core -- speed up processing

I really need the multicore processing in ScanTailor. Very sad to not find it there. This process you outlined has given me some hope but when I tried your program (thank you for posting it online), it unfortunately didn't work for me. I tried 4 and then 2 cores. In both cases, 4 (and 2) scan tailor...

Re: Build Thread for the Hackerspace Scanner Kits

Dan's build is superior to the one you have linked from YouTube. The issues IMHO with the one from YouTube link: 1. Camera to glass distance is not fixed (depends on book thickness). 2. The lighting situation is unclear - you'd need to have an overhead light really high up not to have reflections an...

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

I am also realizing that scanning in the dark works better but unfortunately that will not be an option for me once the project I am starting takes on some speed (I'll post about it in a separate build thread). I've seen the black covers in the past but can't say I like them. The added cost would al...

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

Thanks for the response - that makes sense. Overall the device is solid and works very well! Great job! I am still catching up on the forum content. Was there ever though/effort put into creating a box (that would block all surrounding light) and only allow light from above onto the glass? I am atta...

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

I have the same issue with the LED light appearing at the edge of the glass on both sides. I had the glass cut to 10x14 and also have a version with 11x14 size. In the 11x14 the reflection is worse. I think the light placement may have been designed with a 9x14 glass size in mind. The extra inch or ...
