Re: Help constructing new Laser P scanner?
OK, I need to do a lot as soon as possible to restart my life, so I am going to get the Brother, and leave the retrofit laser printer solution for latter (I should say the high speed tray scanners will probably be less than $199 soon enough and even book readers like the new hover, there is enough f...

Re: HoverCam ImPress Book Scanner
Ohh, yeah, that is more like one of the designs I was imagining the other day. It could be simpler, but notice that they only use very little clamppers to flatten the center curve of the book down instead of v shaped covers that get in the road of simplicity and speed. With good software to flatten ...

Help constructing new Laser P scanner?
Hi I have decided to attempt a design more for destructive document scanning, as I need to scan print outs first, and my books latter. I might consider trying a design with contactless air page turning for the books afterwards. As I have mentioned before, I do get very sick, and at the moment my abi...

Re: Do we actually need portable cameras ?
I forgot, I remember some of the sports action cams having a trigger option, and they use similar 5mp etc sensors as the low cost video cameras, Gopro latest, uses a fullhdp24 36mb/s h264 firmware update. For high speed that is as good as you will get in a video mode on a cheap camera for now (suspe...

Re: Do we actually need portable cameras ?
The problem is not the sensor, it is the streaming video component. Standard HD streaming of 1080p at 24 frames a second, assuming a 16:9 aspect ratio, give a frame resolution of 1920x1080 (the approx 2MP you are getting) giving 48MB/s or 384Mb/s (thats B=bytes vs. b=bits). USB 2.0 maxs out at 480 M...

Re: Newbie: Some ideas for document feeding, and some reques
OK, I was going to post a few things, some occurred to me as I was typing my post, but I actually accidentally found one of them even with the 3d page shape mapping: http://hacknmod.com/hack/how-to-pirate-a-book-in-seconds/ Using the book flatteners to turn pages: I also have been skimming a few thi...

Re: New Scanner Tech Watch Thread
Has anybody seen this:
http://hacknmod.com/hack/how-to-pirate- ... n-seconds/
When I started thinking about scanning high speed a few hours ago, I thought of this exact idea, and here this guy's actually done it, even with the 3d page mapping.

Re: Post something about yourself here (The Hello Thread)
Hi guys, my name is Steve, I live in sunny Australia. I am here due to reading and learning difficulties related to my sickness that has unfortunately resulted in a backlog of reading over the last ten years +. So I have to convert my library of around 100k pages to searchable text I can also use ...
