Archivist kit for sale, SE WI

I'm parting with mine because of a move. $400 OBO, must be able to pick it up intact. Sheboygan area of WI. It's already built, and is a little dusty but nothing a good cleaning can't fix.

Re: A3+ scanner build

It's awesome to see another A3/A3+ sized build. I finally got mine hacked together but if I had the knowledge to do it I'd have gone your route with the metal frame.

Does it pack/ship/travel well?

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

I finally completed this project, it took quite awhile, just adding the finishing touches with paint... 21737_654195656085_8707698814059634973_n.jpg I have an ~11.5lb round rod lead weight with 4 coatings of truck bed liner coating on it, cured for 72 hours as the counterweight in the back :D Here i...

Archival lighting for book scanning suggestions?

Does anyone have suggestions for archival safe lighting for book scanning? I've been looking up various stuff that I should be looking for, but it is hard to translate that to physical products I need to purchase. I'm working on a high resolution camera (Nikon D810). What should I be looking for in ...

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!

Depends on the lead time for me. If it's 1 month I would jump on it (I'm away on business).

Any longer than that and I will have to try finding equivalent supplies. This is my scenario, if it doesn't work out, oh well. Time and distance make for an interesting mess. lol

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!

When will the next round of parts be available? I had work and missed out on snagging some parts.

I'm interested in the lighting unit's stats (size, weight, temperature, etc.)...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

Yup, D810 and Nikon AF-S Micro-NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED Lens :D It is a bit surreal to think of doing this and legitimately dropping the dimes for this. I really want to get to the finished product! But it will have to wait until I get home in September. I am stuck working on the ocean until then. Toug...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

Haha, Yes, I am, albeit a bit late :P That SeeThru Vertical Scanjet would fit the bill if it had a good book edge and had a bigger pane! I can't seem to find an up to date model for it either, dang! In the mean time I have acquired the funds for a nice (read: Expensive) digital camera, lens, remote,...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

I feel like an idiot for not even thinking if the scanner would operate upside down. Let me know if you manage to get anything out of the Opticbooks. I am familiar with the Rockwell site, and going with a 4x5 camera has crossed my mind. I have worked with microfilm, so I know the quality you can get...

Re: Suggestion for hi-res scanning A3 sized formats?

It's not that the books are heavy, but fragile. They are 80 years old, and on 2 the spines are in rough shape. I've done 2 internships with artifact handling experiences and I'd get murdered if I used the Opticbook scanner the way it's supposed to be used. I'd build a set up with the book resting op...
