Re: Scan Tailor Advanced

Hi. I went straight off a 2012/2013 incarnation of ST to ST Advanced and I'm impressed, specially about the speed. I would like to do a couple of suggestions. First is about consistency in the .scantailor file. Back in the old ST versions I used to process my images (with ImageMagick or a Photoshop ...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...

Also, did you try activating the multi-core feature of Gimp? I think it's deactivated by default. You should activate it in the gimprc file and in the Preferences It is enabled. I've been playing with the IM commands. The results are every bit as good as GIMP's and it ended up being marginally fast...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...

Yes this unique command replicates as much as possible the steps of the Gimp script convert %%1 -colorspace Gray -level 20%%,80%%,.67 ^( +clone -bias 50%% -morphology convolve DoG:1,0,1 -level 0%%,50%%,.45 ^) -compose dissolve -define compose:args=70 -composite -threshold 80%% "%%~ndp1_dog.png...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...

Hi, xorpt. As for Imagemagick I proposed some (Windows-based) scripts in the first page of this thread, that do exactly the same, but using IM commands. I've seen that post, but posted anyways because I was only able to understand this part of the command: convert %%1 -colorspace Gray -level 20%%,80...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...

Hi. I've been using this script for bitonal conversion for some months and I haven't and won't look back. It is extremely tweakable and it makes fine tuning as easy as it can get. But it has one drawback: speed. This doesn't matter when converting a few images, but it is a bit of a problem when work...

Re: Quick and easy bookmarks

Interesting. JPDFBookmarks also allows the user to set the symbols to separate each part of the bookmark, and also makes unnecessary to escape certain symbols that must be escaped in the JPDFTweak format (semicolon, for example). But I went to JPDFTweak mainly because I've seen JPDFBookmarks dump in...

Quick and easy bookmarks

Hello everybody. When I started scanning books, I didn't care about browsing them afterwards. I just scanned and stored. But I scan a lot of scientific literature, and for me it is very important to be able to quickly locate the sections I want to read or to print in the document, which isn't always...

Re: Include/exclude areas in the content selection stage

The main developer of Scan Tailor has asked for no requests to be made in the forum here. On top of that Scan Tailor isn't actively developed for the time being and the latest release was about one year ago The request forum is locked, at least for me. I know that ST isn't being developed, but I th...

Include/exclude areas in the content selection stage

The content selection stage is usually the slowest and most tedious stage of the book processing workflow with ST. In it, when ST fails to recognize the content, it is usually because either: 1. It misses a part of the content which is far from the main text body. This is common in the pages where t...

Re: Speeding up the work with margins

1. Align everything to the top (in manual alignment mode). Tick "Match size with other pages". Apply to all pages. 2. Set your margins for top to whatever is your taste. Keep the left, right and bottom margins in 0. Apply to all pages. 3. Go to your "template page" and set your ...
