Wanna work for Google?

Rob here, your friendly forum co-founder and maintainer, and guy with the banhammer. I know there are a lot of you here that played with or developed software or hardware for the scanner. You have a great skill. How would you like to put that skill to use at Google? It's an awesome place to work . I...

Re: Some (crappy) videos of Google's linear book scanner

It has been a while. Aside from approving new members, I haven't been around much. My new job at Google keeps me busy. No, I don't work for Google Books!

Some (crappy) videos of Google's linear book scanner

Re: Bimbo111's Hackerspace build

For the screws, we all use the same kind of screw you have -- with a tapering head. With a countersink tool, these work well, even in the thinnest piece of wood since you can drill with the countersink bit as gently as you want. It's a little hard to tell from the picture, but I *think* they might b...

Re: DIY Book Scanner Kits Now Available!

@mellow-yellow: I'm wondering if different cameras have different focal length/angles of view that cause this. My camera (Canon Powershot SD1100 IS) on the hackspace scanner doesn't show a reflection of the LED, and we know the geometry of the scanner is the same. There's a good picture of what I me...
