Re: Most Efficient Workflow / Process Available Currently
Somehow, the system wouldn't accept my video, so I posted it at blip instead: http://blip.tv/file/4184801 Very good!! Too fast for me. I prefer to go slower just in case you have problems with sticky pages and to be more relaxed. As far as i saw you use the same or similar standards for the scanner...

Re: Most Efficient Workflow / Process Available Currently
Very stressing! 1 scan every 3 secs! I prefer a more relaxed pace. I will have a look at your video.

Re: Most Efficient Workflow / Process Available Currently
1. Scan with SDM using S_FAST* (8 min A) This is very fast. Are you sure it is only 8 minutes? Can you upload pictures of your scanner? Maybe It is worth for me to build a more complex scanner if you save so much time. 3. Rename L (001.jpg, 003.jpg, etc.) and R (002.jpg, 004.jpg) with IrfanView in ...

Re: Basic Guide to Workflow ?
I'm surprised too. Thanks, umpausewhat, for that little hidden gem, and thanks JJJM for noticing it. When I read the original post, I just rolled past the mention of Clearscan, and things would probably have stayed that way. Now I think the Clearscan option is the greatest thing since Scan Tailor, ...

Re: Basic Guide to Workflow ?
After your feedback, I am more convinced solution made bay Scan Tailor plus Clearscan is good enough for my purpose. In this way, getting good quality pictures and good postprocessing with scan tailor is the key to have better final documents. OCR is very time consuming and at the end of the day, wh...

Re: Basic Guide to Workflow ?
It's possible that Scan Tailor is capable of producing better quality than this, and I have done something wrong (like choosing the wrong DPI, for instance, or having a lower-resolution scan to begin with) which has caused my results to be less than they should be. Could you post an example of the ...

Re: Basic Guide to Workflow ?
I didn't know about the Clearscan option in Acrobat either, but that's not surprising: the last version of Acrobat I bought was 5.0, and this option was apparently introduced in version 9. Finally, maybe I have a reason to upgrade... I'm curious -- a couple of people in this thread have mentioned t...

Re: Basic Guide to Workflow ?
8) After saving new pdf, run the ocr--I use the Clearscan setting. This makes the file smaller and much easier to read, even though it makes the original image inaccessible (you can't re-ocr the doc after running Clearscan). I think Clearscan basically creates custom fonts with vector algorithms, b...

Re: Ultra-low budget scanning + OCR: Test and results
The Scan Tailor video tutorial is here: http://vimeo.com/12524529 I generally use 180 dpi input (6 lines of text per vertical inch), and 360 output. Try that, it's explained in the tutorial as well. Because your image appears it will ideally render to black and white, you should process to black an...

Re: Low cost book scanning for Dummies
By the way, I realized I never post my update of scanner. I made some improvements to have a more solid built with less manual adjustments for the camera. Camera is canon a480 (75 eur) + power adaptor (4 eur) at ebay. http://img149.imagevenue.com/loc492/th_45456_30052010194_resize_resize_122_492lo.j...
