Re: one push triggering

We used the remote triggering via USB port for our 2 Canon A2200 cameras on our book scanner. I hooked both usb cables up to regular USB Port charges like you use for MP3 players, cell phones, etc. Then plugged those into an extension cord that runs to a foot switch. When pressed the foot switch foc...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

David, you deserve lots more credit for coming up with that design... There is actually a heavier pipe used in the very back of the setup that serves as a weight. This way we didn't have to have an extra weight to worry about. I think they said they put a solid iron bar back there so it is heavier t...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

Hi All, I am sorry this posting is so long overdue. Life has just been very hectic. However, I did want to let you know how things are going for us with the oversize scanner. I have actually been scanning some of the minute books and with the post production work to improve the images taken with the...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

Hi all, I am back from my road trip/cruise and ready to get back to work on this. I actually got back last week but our 4 kids were in for the Easter holiday so I didn't get a chance to do anything on the scanner. I saw David had a few questions and wanted to get to them. I can't say much about the ...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

I moved the scanning unit to our local Knights of Columbus meeting hall this past week because we were having a writer and photographer come to the historical society meeting to take pictures of the unit and get information for a newspaper story he wanted to write about it. Here is a link to the sto...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

I picked up a 2 pack of Utilitech Natural Daylight 100 watt 1600 Lumens and 5000k bulbs at Lowes and when I get back from my road trip in a few weeks I am going to try these on our scanner unit. I am hoping the 5,000k, Natural Daylight 100 watts each will give me enough light and also keep it as clo...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

DPC is right. And I know David knows that too. I think he just wanted us to get an idea of the difference. Once he gets it set up I am sure he will post better examples.

Speaking of cleaning the plexiglas, I am curious what others use to clean it. Any suggestions?

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

Dave, that looks pretty impressive. I have to find out where to get them locally. It certainly can't hurt. But I agree that I still need a better light source. I am currently getting ready to go on a road trip with my wife. We do one or two every year. Last year we did one in late May into June and ...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

What a wonderful project! I grew up not all that far from you, up in Tioga county. We had a Pittston wood cookstove for many years. :D Yes, you were almost a neighbor then. (:-) The Pittston Stoves were the best. We had one when I was growing up and we loved it. Now guys use them for heating huntin...

Re: Oversized davidlandin Model

David, I was thinking the same thing. And I don't want to cut down on lighting but increase it. Wow, that is interesting about the Plexiglas XT, I didn't know anything like that existed and would be interested to hear how it works if you ever decide to try it. I will see if it is available here in t...
