Re: Hardware buildup for a Sliding Glass platen scanner.
Edvin, Thanks for the input. I actually do have the cameras installed. They are mounted to the ears similarly to what you describe, with a few small differences. I apologize for the slow updates this week, but I have been very busy. I will try to get everything up in the next few days. Thanks, James

I believe that is what bkrpr based their software on as well.

Re: ABBYY FineReader
Has anyone else tried Adobe Acrobat 9? It is really, really good at converting the scanner output. It is a little pricey, but you may be eligible for a student discount or something.

Re: Photocopier-pc-connected
Could you clarify your question? Are you asking if you could do an entire book on a flat bed scanner hooked up to a computer? Absolutely. It would just be very painful.

Re: Plustek-Bookscanner
While that is a cheap option, it is much slower to use and a bit pricy. That being said, if you can get a cheap one and don't mind the flipping go for it. This site is much more about getting the job done, than a specific product or solution. There are some expensive commercial products that are way...

Re: My handle design for jradi
I have identified almost every part need for a "snap together" solution. I am just looking for one more part and then everyone should be able to get themselves rolling. Dan, if you get to many requests, let me know. I can churn out a few dozen boards in an afternoon, if need be. I have an ...

Re: Hardware buildup for a Sliding Glass platen scanner.
It is actually really light, about 3 pounds. That being said, I do have a counter weight that I have been playing with that makes it much easier. I am trying to figure out if it is better to be neutrally buoyant, or have a slight drag down/up. I am leaning toward a slight drag up, as my arm likes to...

Re: Hardware buildup for a Sliding Glass platen scanner.
Yes, I just let the book holder self adjust as I bring down the platen. It is so smooth, that in actual practice it nudges over just the perfect amount. This serves to completly remove one bit of work from your job.
Stay tuned for the rest of the buildup. Thanks for the feedback.

Hardware buildup for a Sliding Glass platen scanner.
Hello all. I am going to publish the schematics for the glass platen scanner that I posted on instructables. I will also post photos to try to show how things fit together, but not details on each individual step. This is because I don't want anyone to be married to the tools I use or the exact cons...

Re: My handle design for jradi
I will put together that parts list. Hopefully it will make life a little easier, as it will be new USB ports. Removing the salvage aspect should help out the non electronics types. I think I can find all snap together parts as well.
