Re: Archiving the Forums?

Ideally, in my mind, the archive would comprise a static HTML mirror of the entire archive, with internal URLs changed to be relative URLs within the archive. In addition, it could be useful to create a partial database dump of post content for anyone wanting to do, say, text analyses in the future....

Re: Archiving the Forums?

Hi Daniel and Jonathon, I just remembered to come back to this, after a time out of contact. I hope that this message finds you both well! I am still interested in contributing to this. I looked into it a bit more today, and found out about PHPBB-Static , which was recommended from here . That secon...

Re: Voussoir, for Semi-Automated De-keystoning and Cropping of Images

Hi Gustavo, I apologize for taking this long to respond to you! I appreciate your interest in the project! I am not really a C++ developer; I've just added some functionality and a lot of documentation to an existing project that the original author wasn't interested in adding to. I looked a bit int...

Mohib, huge congratulations on such a simplified, elegant design! Your documentation is inspiring, and the results you're getting look great. I especially like how you've settled on using an iPhone 4 -- new enough that the camera is good, but old enough that it's (I presume) inexpensive to pick up u...

Re: Voussoir, for Semi-Automated De-keystoning and Cropping of Images

Voussoir's primary purpose is to de-keystone images from a one- or two-camera scanner where the book was open at an acute angle. It can also be used with a basic copystand setup with book open flat, however. For example, I recently digitized a spiral-bound notebook, which was able to sit flat on a t...

Voussoir, for Semi-Automated De-keystoning and Cropping of Images

As part of the "Impost" scanner project, I have been working to document and add to "bookscan," a piece of software written in one day in 2012 by Yutaka Tsutano . I have added a full command-line interface and documentation to the program, and have renamed the fork "Voussoir...

Re: The "Impost" Scanner: With Adjustable Cradle, Able to Scan Books at Acute Angles

Note also that exciting and related development is currently being performed by duerig in the program "marker-crop." marker-crop also uses glyphs and is intended to simplify the process of cropping images. To my knowledge, it does not currently support de-keystoning of images. duerig and I...

The "Impost" Scanner: With Adjustable Cradle, Able to Scan Books at Acute Angles

Hi, All! In the year since I released my "Non-Destructive Guillotine" ("NDG") scanner design, I've thought more about de-keystoning photographs of book pages. In many scanner designs, the book's pages are flattened by a glass or acrylic platen at 90, 100, or 180 degrees (The Arch...
