Re: Mirrorless DSLR for bookscanning
Hi, The J3 can be triggered remotely when connected via USB using the gphoto software. You can capture to either memory card or internal SDRAM. The command for capture is gphoto2 --capture-image-and-download --filename image.jpg If you have multiple cameras connected via usb, you can specify which c...

Re: Internet Archive tabletop Scribe scanner (TT Scribe)
Hi Daniel, I asked about it, and am told that the design files will be posted.. they are still iterating on the design. As for cameras, they are shipping with three Nikon 1 J3s. We see the book edge of the opposing side on the right of the image, and this is causing the bi...

Re: Autocrop algorithm for books scanned with Scribe Scanner
Oh yeah, if you post a sample image (raw, uncropped) that I can test with, then I can provide a version that outputs the cropped, skewed page image for use in your processing pipeline, so you don't have to call imagemagick. Alternatively, we could try to integrate with whatever software you are usin...

Re: Autocrop algorithm for books scanned with Scribe Scanner
Hi everyone, The autocrop utility is actually a C binary that outputs skew and crop information to stdout. There is a python wrapper that reads the crop data and writes it to scandata.xml, but you don't need to use that if you aren't using a scribe bookscanner. You call the utility like so: $ ./auto...
