Free Hackerspace Scanner available in the continental United States

I have a Hackerspace Scanner available, unopened in the original box, for FREE. No cameras; no triggers; no lights; no glass; just the original scanner pieces. I will ship to you in the continental United States, also FREE. I'm most inclined to give this to a not-for-profit project/team.

Re: Camejo Hospital Medical Records Project

Hi Paulica, Thanks for your input. I will check out the software that you mentioned. Unbinding the books is Plan B for us. Unbinding the books, scanning, and then rebinding is a process that might (1) endanger the integrity of the current handwritten system, if pages somehow get out of order, and (2...

Re: Camejo Hospital Medical Records Project

With the Olympus E-P1 camera that we're using, and the configuration of the camera arms, we found that the access door for the camera batteries and the camera memory card was partially blocked by the top corner of the camera arm. It would be ideal if we did not have to move the cameras to change bat...

Re: Camejo Hospital Medical Records Project

Here is a photo taken with the "Daniel's 5th Generation DIY Book Scanner" rig, using the two Olympus E-P1 cameras with the settings I summarize below. The data that you see here is representative -- it is in my handwriting, using blue ink, on paper that is the size of the copybooks, in the columnar ...

Re: Camejo Hospital Medical Records Project

Working with the LED lighting strip that Daniel provided, we did some experimenting to determine the height of the lights that would eliminate glare. We concluded with the lighting strip at a minimum of 55" above the table top, positioned as you see in this photo. The lighting strip is supported by ...

Re: Daniel's 5th Generation DIY Book Scanner

That's a good point, reggilbert, and I will do that experiment. I want to verify that the large capacity cards work ok, so I'll check for the write-speed tolerances in our usage scenario too. We do want to send the initial configuration with everything that is needed.

Thanks,
