Best pipeline to scan business cards

I was looking around for business card scanners and I found a few however they seem to be expensive (starting at $100) and you could get a multifunction printer scanner fax combo at the same price range or if we pay a little bit extra. I would preferably want to go for a multi function device with a...

Re: Can Scan Tailor remove perforation marks from image scan

If content actually goes over those perforation marks, then Scan Tailor won't be able to help. Otherwise you could use Fill Zones on the Output stage. a. The perforation marks are around the content and they do not overlap. b. Will have a look at Fill Zones never knew that Scan Tailor had such a fe...

I would like to clean up the scans and remove these horizontal and vertical perforated marks. My scanned image looks like an 3 x 3 table with co...

Re: Extracting text from color images

Yes I could do that but sometimes the text is curvy in the subject itself like say its placed along some kind of bezier path. Dewarping is not designed for that. And I couldn't find Snapter , I think Atiz has taken it off site. I think I heard Abbyy Finereader can handle warped documents. I am not ...

Re: Extracting text from color images

Tesseract (or whatever OCR engine you prefer) is all you need to get plain text: "tesseract my_image.tif output". I ran tests on two images with colored text and backgrounds with tesseract and the results are not looking good. The points that immediately came to my notice are: 1. My image...

Tesseract (or whatever OCR engine you prefer) is all you need to get plain text: "tesseract my_image.tif output". I forget what image formats tesseract can accept, so you may need to convert the images to a tiff file, which can easily be done with ImageMagick (convert my_image.jpg my_imag...

Re: Extracting text from color images

Could you be more specific in what you mean by extracting the text? When you get to a final output file, do you want Plain text would do for now. Close. No open source encoders that I know of segment an image into the appropriate layers. They expect you to do that, feed each layer into the appropri...

Extracting text from color images

What I have is color images of some articles taken with a camera, these images have color text and graphics in them. What I wanted was to extract the text from them. I'm a noob with this process, Possibly OCR is what I'm looking at, right? The Djvu format caught my attention, it seemingly has some s...
