Re: Introducing spreads: command-line workflow tool

PocketLibrarian, I'm the author of Pi Scan so I'm happy to work with you to debug your issue. You can PM me or start a new thread (this is not the right place for it). Other than that, I'd say that TwoCamControl is a great controller system. And Using a USB trigger like Konos93a describes is also a ...

Re: Raspberry PI camera?

I have played around with this. There are a few limitation of Raspberry Pi cameras. The 8 MP resoloution, the complete lack of zoom, and the fact that a single Raspberry Pi can only handle one camera at a time. But they are cheap. They have manually-set focus control. And they are relatively more re...

Re: ideal compact budget system for viewing only?

There are two possibilities that you might want to look into. First, you might just want to buy a large tablet computer whether an iPad or an Android/Microsoft one. For $300 you can probably get a last-generation refurbished or used model. Then you can use it as a large screen with an attached camer...

Re: Introducing spreads: command-line workflow tool

As far as I am aware, Spreads is no longer maintained. It is a neat project that I hope gets reborn some day if Johannes gets more time to work on it. In the mean time, you might take a look at TwoCamControl (a similar project for windows) and Pi Scan (a similar project meant for running on a Raspbe...

Re: Dire camera situation 2017

Just a quick update on this. ELPH 180 cameras are now supported by CHDK. So the camera situation is not nearly so dire thanks to the brilliant efforts of reyalp and others in the CHDK community. It also seems that Canon has pulled back from the yearly release-and-obsolescence cycle. So hopefully thi...

Re: Options re: writing drivers for additional cameras

The 'drivers' for these cameras will be part of one of two projects: CHDK uses some hooks that are available in the cheap Canon point and shoot cameras to bootstrap a more full-featured environment onto the camera that also lets you control it via a computer. Porting CHDK to a new camera can be eith...

Re: Can 2 different cameras be mixed & matched?

The only issues are that the two pages might not match exactly. If you are buying cameras, I'd recommend getting a matched set. But if you are using cameras you already have on hand, then I'd say give this a try and see if you like the result. There is no software or other insurmountable problem. -J...

Re: Do cameras with manual mode minimize/eliminate need for remote software?

To follow up on BillGill's answer, control software is mostly about having a convenient way to trigger the shutters of the cameras. There are some other nice things that a controller can do at the same time (automatically interleave odd and even page photos, automatically choose good settings), but ...

Re: 2xUSB in laptop used for TTC. How to obtain aditional USB for mouse as a trigger

I'd look for bluetooth input devices. A keyboard, a mouse, or even one of those presentation remotes might work out. Just make sure that your laptop supports bluetooth and that the device you get works with the built-in bluetooth rather than through a USB base antenna.

Re: Need Pi Scan to output .tiff, please advise

Pi Scan supports downloading raw images on DSLR and mirrorless cameras. But not on the cheaper point and shoot cameras. As far as I know, there is no way to generate TIFF files directly on any of the cheap point and shoot cameras. At some point this summer (hopefully early in July), I plan to releas...
