Re: Camera settings for book scanning

Yes, you're right, the aperture size isn't related to the resolution issues. This is not correct. Aperature is related to the sharpnes of the picture and therefore also to the max possiibole resolution. Every lens have a sweet spoot were is it best. arround f5,6 - f8 is normal. And the cammera shou...

Re: How to get desired dpi?

This if your copy of the scann is 1:1 If you scann in 300 dpi you can look on the picture on the screnn (72dpi) and it is bigger than the scann. You can print the same scann in 1000dpi if the copy is small enought. But if you scann a paper in 300 dpi and print it in the same size you vill print in 3...

Re: How to get desired dpi?

If the paper that you like to scann have a side that is 10 inch long and you like to have 300 dpi you need av sensor in your camera that is 300dpi x 10 inch = 3000 pixel wide. Then you have the optical losses in the lens that is minimum 10% Now you need 3300 pixel wide This will work if the lens is ...

Re: Infrared LEDs for lighting

in "better" (or all) cameras there is a IR blocking filter in front of the sensor. The camera is constructed to make a image of what we see and therefor the manufakture of the camera has block the IR. I have not try to see what resolution I can get with IR light and I don´t think I will do...

Re: Canon A2600 vs Ixus / ELPH 160?

Doing our best to get the clearest images possible, and he had some special filters for long exposures, we still lost 30-50% from pixel to optical resolution. Did you have the light in 45 degree and try different typs of light? I did notis a 50% difference in LPMM depending on the light type and an...

Re: Canon A2600 vs Ixus / ELPH 160?

- resolution, Ixus 160 has 20mp while A2600 has 16mp. Depending on the size of the book. I like to have 300dpi at the end. 16MP and size A4 is not realy 300DPI in the end - optical zoom, Ixus 160 has x8 while A2600 has x5 you need to see "only the page" so if the zoom is "wrong" ...

Re: Converting Color/Grayscale Text Scans to Black & White

I also prefer to read paperbooks but the books I scan is workshops manuals for old cars and they will be read in a computer when I need them. But the amount of pages (several tusens) make a need for "easy reading" and reading when scroling the text. There I see that grayscale is mutch more...

Re: Converting Color/Grayscale Text Scans to Black & White

When I read books I find it more comfort to read a text in grayscale vs black & white.

So I am heading for better grayscale to get even more "easy read" books.

Re: Sheet Fed Scanner for Destructive Scanning

I have use a Sharp MX 4101n office mashin for my privet work at the evning. The best with this is that it take both side without extra handeling of the papershet. It have two scanners! so I get both side in one sweep. It goes slower but that OK. You cant use USB for big work. The maskin "hangs&...
