Re: Using STICK to install CHDK on 2 cards for Canon A810. How to make one card for the left camera and one for the righ

The distinction between left/right (even/odd) was kept on the SD card of the camera when using Spreads. In this case, after using STICK to install, you will want to create a text file on the SD card. The file is called 'OWN.TXT' and contains just the word 'even' or just the word 'odd'. It should ex...

Using STICK to install CHDK on 2 cards for Canon A810. How to make one card for the left camera and one for the right?

Hello, I've decided to revive my book scanner project by recreating the configuration I had a couple of years ago. Since then I have replaced one of my camera's and now I'd like to reinstall chdk on both my camera's with STICK. I recall that there has to be a distinction made between the chdk settin...

Re: Has anyone ever gotten Spreads/SpreadPi to work properly

barth, I am personally moving away from the bring-your-own-device idea. But I haven't seen any opinion on the matter by Johannes, the author of Spreads. The 'plug these things in and work' mode is much easier to get going for people who don't know how to administer a network or use a Linux command ...

Re: Has anyone ever gotten Spreads/SpreadPi to work properly

I have had a similar experience. For a user, imo, robust hard- and software at the moment of purchase are a basic requirement. I appreciate the effort, help and information I have received while trying to get my device to work, though. But I don't believe these efforts or my investing of time, money...

Re: SpreadPi and Camera config

Thx. This isn't the first install of CHDK on these cameras so I am reasonably sure I have the right version. Logo pops up - most of the time anyway - but I don't think I have the experimental version (are there any others, really? :) ) Now I will figure out how to use scripts (running the scanner fr...

Re: Minimum Camera for Book Scanning

In my experience it depends on the goal of your digitization project, which will determine the image quality you want, which will determine which camera you want to use. And then of course, your choice will be limited further by the availability of chdk builds :)

Re: SpreadPi and Camera config

Message on Pi screen: [ 96.75004044] Transfer to device 6 endpoint 0x1 frame 1806 failed - FIQ reported NYET. DAta may have been lost
Seems like the Pi is 'losing touch' with the cameras at some point

Rebooting the Pi via Spreads didn't change anything.

Thank you for teaching me this. Logfiles and screenshot included
There was also information given on the Pi screen but I'm going to have to post that later
