Scanning in the British Library
I'm going to be visiting the British Library in Yorkshire this weekend, and I'd like to be able to copy excerpts from a book in the reading room. Unlike in London, no overhead book scanners are available, and photocopying the book at 25p a page is a bit expensive. I am allowed to take my own camera ...

Re: Ideal Canon Camera Settings
Hi Jonathon, thanks for this very detailed post; I've been experimenting with my setup this evening and have had some good results. The image quality still isn't as high as I'd like though: I'm experimenting with a chdk script to slow my zoom down so that I can match the zoom level of both cameras. ...

Ideal Canon Camera Settings
Hi I am trying to use a script which was very kindly linked to from the forum, which allows a user to check their ideal Canon Camera settings. The script can be found here: http://www.mind2b.com/component/content/article/9-info/10-ideal-canon-camera-settings When I try to run it I get the following ...

Re: TwoCamControl - fast two camera chdkptp photos (Windows)
Many many thanks for this; I've found the correct serial number and the camera is recognised in chdk. Is it possible to run chdk and twocam at the same time? Is chdk supposed to offer a live preview of what the camera sees? Confession: I also had remote enabled in chdk which is also probably why I c...

Re: TwoCamControl - fast two camera chdkptp photos (Windows)
Hi
I don't mean to be a dimwit, but I had difficulty in working out how to run chdkptp.exe -elist via the command line. Can you give me an idiot's instruction on how to do this? I know how to bring up cmd, but I didn't know how to run this command.

Re: TwoCamControl - fast two camera chdkptp photos (Windows)
Hi dtic, thankfoe getting back to me: I downloaded this version of autohotkey: AutoHotkey112202_Install I entered the settings into Notepad: for the serial, I used the number on the bottom of the camera. The first time I used TwoCam, the two command lines appeared, but I was unable to take any image...

Re: TwoCamControl - fast two camera chdkptp photos (Windows)
I managed to get everything installed, but when I run TwoCam, it's unable to connect to the cameras; I've tried reinstalling and rebooting, but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using W7, 2xCanon A1400s.

Re: Foot Switch
Hi I'm planning to build a similar foot switch trigger, using this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-to-5V-3A-Step-down-Converter-Buck-Regulator-to-2-Female-USB-Output-Car-UK-/361297397590?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item541f00c756) as part of my setup. As you can see, it outputs 5v; did you find...

Re: Dual Cameras on Kit with Canon + CHDK
You could plug your power strip into a deadman style footswitch. http://www.amazon.com/Off-Deadman-Style-Momentary-Footswitch/dp/B0035Y7DB2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387232171&sr=8-2&keywords=DEADMAN+FOOTSWITCH I've been looking for a way to trigger two cameras using CHDK; this looks like...

Old DSLR vs Newer Compact?
Hi I'm currently sourcing cameras for my Archivist book scanner, and am trying to decide between going for two older dslrs or a pair of newer compacts runing CHDK. I have an old Canon 350d (8mp); I understand that the number of megapixels this camera has falls below the recommended standard, but it'...
