You know, if you buy your wood from Lowe's or Home Depot, they'll probably cut it to size for you if you do your homework and bring a list of measurements with you. Buy a cheap cordless, or corded, drill and all you need is the hardware.Drake Ravensmith wrote: I did have my wood cut for me but that was it.

Re: The New "Standard Scanner"
Anyhow, long story short, I was wondering is it possible to buy one of these scanners made by Clem or Daniel ? Caelum, I'm sorry you don't have any carpenter friends, or friends who are carpenters...it really does come in handy. :) And to think Daniel even has a laser cutter...how cool is that??? A...

Re: Straight From the Camera
Picking up on this thread, I contacted Misty who did a write up on different types of cameras used for scanning and archiving in order to ask if she thought I could get better results if I went from a compact to an SLR camera. She made some good suggestions in response to a private message I sent to...

Re: The New "Standard Scanner"
I'd be curious about your scan tailor settings, I haven't played with it yet. It's pretty user friendly, and in addition to myself, I'm sure most people on this forum can give you a few hints, etc. I've just re-connected my scanner after my move. Now just looking into making some adjustments in the...

Re: The New "Standard Scanner"
Great Job!!! I'm looking forward to some test posts. Also, let me know how the glass works re: glare issues, etc. Once you get to the software/image-processing stage, forward me your workflow. I'm interested in seeing where you go from there. Mine goes along as follows: image from camera --> Adobe L...

Re: LC 2000- an easy metal build
Just re-read your original post...saw that you put it on your coffee table for scanning. Sounds better than sitting on the floor, lol. Store it in the cupboard under the stairs??? Kind of a tight fit with Harry Potter in there??? LOL. Still, what's the lighting source? Thanks.

Re: LC 2000- an easy metal build
Impressively creative!!! How'd you ever think that up??? I'd be really interested in seeing the video as well. Two questions, though, 1) what's your lighting source, and 2) ergonomically speaking, how's it work out for you...looks like you might have to sit on the floor to operate since it appears t...

Re: Camera Triggering
My 2 cents...haven't found anything better than the Van de Kamp switch, especially since I don't do/know coding like Spamsickle. You can check out his switches here . Frans Van de Kamp builds these switches to your specs (RE: cord length, switch style). I've incorporated the switch in my build which...

Re: Clemd's DIY build in photos
Okay Clemd, this time I know for sure what happened with your cradle. What you did was screw the base of your cradle just slightly left of where you ought to have. In this pic you can see that your cradle is able to be placed as far right as you want since your slides need to slide right to begin a...

Re: Straight From the Camera
It was taken with an A480 using a plain ol' 60-watt incandescent bulb for lighting -- there it is, reflected, up at the top of the image. I also use the A480, and the incandescent bulb does usually provide "enough" lighting - depending on the wattage - but is it the "type" of li...
