Re: Cameras for a business project

I'm curious about feasibility of integrate DSLRs and spreads, has someone tested that? D5200 and Rebel T2i are supported by libgphoto, then in theory it can be integrated to spreads. Thanks There is some basic code available already. That is what I wanted to test with the latest spreads code when m...

Re: Cameras for a business project

I've been searching and comparing several DSLRs and finally I thought I will use a pair of Nikon D3300. They doesn't have such a nice SDK like Canon cameras or support on main software at the moment (it's a very new model) Nikon's USB API has always been less interesting than Canon's. If you want t...

Re: Cameras for a business project

Thanks for the confirmation markvdb. Are you using a DSLR camera for the scanner? We used this with an older, more experimental software version. I know of people using more recent versions, but we don't do that ourselves (Powershot cameras are sufficient for our purposes). I am testing the dslr se...

Re: Cameras for a business project

Just fyi, the current diybookscanner rig can carry a dslr no problem. There is also at least basic support for Canon DSLRs in the software we use (gphoto2 based).

Re: RK3188 & Software

We've tested this and similar quad cortex a9 boards and found them not powerful enough.

I will be looking at some really interesting 64 bit alternatives in the near future, both arm and x86. Will keep you up to date.

Re: SpreadPi: The new DIY Book Scanner control system.

Hmmm... spomwii's photos may be focusing correctly, but mine definitely aren't, at least not consistently. Any ideas about what might be causing this? I need to pack up the kit for the conference on Wednesday, and I'd like to show off something OCR-able. Can I go into CHDK and force autofocus off s...

Re: SpreadPi: The new DIY Book Scanner control system.

I did a few test last night and SpreadPi is performing very well. I had a small problem though and I wonder if this is a bug? When I use the foot pedal the cameras takes a picture but it is not registered in the webgui. (no thumbnail and it shows 0 images) But if I download the images they are ther...

Re: SpreadPi: The new DIY Book Scanner control system.

Do you just connect your Pi to your Windows machine via a regular ethernet patch cable? Is that sufficient to provide the Pi with an IP address that you can use to access the web interface via a tablet or phone? Sorry for all the questions. I'll keep experimenting. The pi expects a dhcp lease. The ...
