Re: Build Thread for the Hackerspace Scanner Kits

1) Is there a complete version of the assembly instructions out there? I've been working from the one that was linked at the start of this thread, but(...) As far as I know, there is no more recent version. I am slowly building an openscad model of the scanner for use in an easily updatable (and fo...

Re: Manufacturing the hackerspace kit from the eps files

There is no depth layer information present in the current design. This will have to be entered manually in a format that your cnc supplier can understand. With http://diyboookscanner.eu, we have work underway to port the design into the free software openscad 3d format, but that isn't complete yet...

Re: Manufacturing the hackerspace kit from the eps files

Since some cuts are not supposed to cut through the entire sheet of plywood, but only remove parts of it, are the specifications about each cut (depth of the cut, width of the cut) stored in the eps file, or is it necessary to adjust the width and depth in the middle of the process? There is no dep...

Re: The Glare of Varnished Pages

Re: Camera Question - Web Cameras

I had a look at them, and I couldn't get decent results. I'd say forget about them until they have optical zoom, higher resolution and a better sensor.

Re: DIY book scanner kit in europe.

http://diybookscanner.eu offers kits in the EU. I'm leaving this link here because for some reason, Google thinks this forum post is extremely important. Quite a few people might otherwise not find out about kit availability in Europe. Mark Disclaimer: I work on http://diybookscanner.eu . I only dar...

Re: scanner speeds - post comparisons here

http://diybookscanner.eu full kit with 2x Canon PowerShot A2200 cameras and ptpcam triggered by a foot pedal yields about 7 seconds per bookspread, or over 1000 pages per hour. This includes about 3 seconds of page turning and moving the cradle. An improvement with parallel instead of sequential tri...
