Re: Questions rumbling in my head

You misunderstand. Eye fi cards usually transfer pics while you're scanning. The purpose of the sd extension cable is to allow access to the sd card without removing it and disturbing the scanner. I'm using it because the endless memory mode occasionally fails on the eye fi cards and they fill up. H...

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

Thank you, Gerard. You seem to have solved the problem. When inserted into a card reader the locked card would behave as if it was unlocked. You can see the fake lock tab here. IMG_6493 - Copy.JPG I got the CHDK installed on a spare card and used the firmware update method. Everything tested out jus...

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

Yes, the SDM loads fine when the memory stick is inside the camera but apparently won't when in the extension cable. My theory is the camera won't load the firmware because the extension cable case a fake lock tab. I guess I'm screwed.

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

jck57: I set up my new cameras with the cables and the sdm firmware didn't load. I can only guess that it has to do with the fake lock table on the extension cable. Are you having this problem?

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

I finally received my new used cameras in the mail. The a650is has a much longer battery door than the a590is so it looks like I can just slip the extension cable in without the door pinching anything. The cable works great. Ordered a second one and as soon as I get my new camera mounts figured out ...

Re: Best Buy sale

Can't seem to edit my posts. The original sale has ended but it seems as if the Pros are still on sale for 79.99.

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

That sucks. I passed on that seller because he was too knew to Amazon, based in Hong Kong (shipping time), and his feedback was suspect. Three weeks later, it hasn't improved.

How do you plan to use the cards with the camera doors closed?

Re: Questions rumbling in my head

I don't know if you're using adjustable or fixed camera mounts but either way I think it is completely worth the expense for the convenience. It's a hassle every time I have to remove my cards. Have SD card extension cables been discussed already? http://www.ebay.com/itm/SD-card-extension-Cable-/11...

Re: Best Buy sale

Picked up mine at the store... I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could specify which directory each card would upload to. Once I build my scanner (too busy cutting other people's scanners!) I look forward to clicking away and not having to remove the cameras to upload the images! Actually, ...
