Andy Scan software for android cameras

I'm am slowly, but surely making progress on my android app for using an android based camera in book scanning, so I thought I'd start a thread where I can get inundated with suggestions I can ignore :-). Read all about it here: http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/software/andyscan/andyscan.html Bea...

Re: Another android camera may be coming

I've turned out another test program which has figured out how to display text on top of the camera preview (harder than it seemed like it should have been :-). I've also done a more detailed writeup of what goes on in the programs. You can find it here: http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/book/ch06...

Yep. Computer programming is what I get paid for, but I use C++ most of the time at work. Android is definitely a bit weird.

Re: Another android camera may be coming

Motion detection seems to work as well, so I have two possible options for triggering the camera automatically. If anyone wants to look at my silly android code, I have links on my web page at: http://home.comcast.net/~tomhorsley/hardware/scanner/android-scanner.html Both test progs I have out there...

Re: Another android camera may be coming

I've been fooling around with an android program to experiment with the camera on my phone, and have a silly app that adds up all the luma values from a camera preview image and logs the result, which gives me stuff like this in the logcat output: I/Preview ( 4613): Luma=51722799 I/Preview ( 4613): ...

Re: Another android camera may be coming

Depends on the amount of control Nikon allows android programmers to have, but I'm sure it will be much more convenient to get the photos off the phone and onto a laptop or desktop during the process of taking pictures of the pages, and if the phone allows enough control it should be possible to fix...

Another android camera may be coming

http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/8/322762 ... lay-access

This rumor claims an Aug 22 launch, so maybe it will really happen (unlike the Polaroid sc1630 which has pretty much vanished from the Polaroid web site).

Re: Camera Triggering

Here is a very nifty camera trigger I found described over in the arduino forums which I figured should be linked in here:
