Re: usb remote with HTC USB Splitter

The audio signals are on the ORANGE and YELLOW wires in the splitter. If you aren't going to output the audio via an RCA cable then I'd suppose that you don't connect them to anything. I've made one of these for a Canon Elph 160, but I had video and audio RCA cable outputs, just as the author of tha...

What's the purpose of that cable that's threaded through the PVC tubing? Is that just to hold the individual pieces together?

i send an email on sparkfun for the HTC ExtUSB 11 Pin USB Connector with Breakout .
they told me that there is no more this type of connector in the market so they could not produce more.
The connectors are still available though. This may work if you're steady with a soldering iron.

Re: I built a new scanner

... The Elph cameras do have a video output, but it comes out on the same mini USB connector that the remote trigger uses. The USB connector has extra pins on the back side of the connector. That means you have to build a special cable. I found directions on how to do it someplace, but can't rememb...

Re: I built a new scanner

Good for you! Thanks for posting your build. I'm surprised more people haven't built single-page scanners based on this design. Interesting counterweight system with the water bottle - does the water slosh around when speed scanning? Would a more viscous liquid help (i.e. vegetable oil). Instead of ...

Re: Hello from the TEX-MEX Border :)

Welcome! Scanning large pages has additional challenges that the typical bookscanner doesn't have. From the photo you've posted you have the additional problem in that the newspaper pages have been bound into a book where it becomes more difficult to scan the edge of the page near the gutter. A few ...

Re: A Scanner for books with text VERY close to the gutter.

if this thread is still active has anybody the dimensions of this design? The dimensions of the few pieces that make up this scanner shouldn't be too hard to determine based on your camera's focal length and the largest page size that you're planning to scan. If you don't have access to a router or...

Yes, the concern is about reflections showing up in the scanned images. It would be good for people that might be considering building a scanner such as yours to understand this. Scanning a solid black page under your platen would reveal any potential problems with reflections.
