Re: HELP - Scan Tailor Project --> .pdf

Yup, pretty much.

Actually, my post was back in October. Since then, the author of jbig2enc added a hack into pdf.py that causes it to always assume 600 DPI. If you use the version of pdf.py from his Github page, it's done for you.

Re: PDFBeads — Convert Scanned Images to a Single PDF File

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that commit went away. I'll update the URL.

jbig2enc is still pending in Homebrew, but hopefully will make it in sometime.

Re: alternative to abbyy?

Misty, I have a question for you. I checked my camera's settings and my camera's user's guide. I was shooting using "Standard". That means the focal length is 35 - 560 mm and the shooting characteristics are "Enables shooting at zoom factors of up to 16x with digital and optical zoom combined." So,...

Or print the djvu with a pdf driver.
As I've said earlier, neither of those are very good options for someone who primarily wants a PDF, not DjVu. They usually either sacrifice quality and size, or lose crucial features (like mixed images and bitonal text), or both.

Re: PDFbeads Error

That's fine, then. Just go ahead and install rmagick and hpricot using Rubygems, by doing

Code: Select all

sudo gem install rmagick hpricot

Re: PDFbeads Error

PDFBeads doesn't track its dependencies in Rubygems (Alexey, you should do that ;)), so it didn't install the other gems you need for it to work. In addition to PDFBeads itself, you also need rmagick and hpricot. Go ahead and install those the same way you installed PDFBeads itself. You will need to...

Re: Depixeling Pixel Art

Strider, for the sake of comparison, could you make a copy of your Scan Tailor project and output your page in full colour, then OCR that? (Or OCR the original scan.) My experience is that OCR software, or at least commercial OCR software, usually gets better results from a quality original scan rat...
