Re: Single camera V scanner with adjustable mirrors

Absolutely fantastic.....price - around US$ 10K ! (http://yandex.ru/yandsearch?text=Optima+V&lr=2) The idea is good - will try to use couple of mirros to 'flattern' an opened book in a cradle.... The easier thing is, to my mind, to flip a mirror that would reflect to the lens of the camera one or an...

Re: Remote Shutter Release (DSLRs)

Haven't seen any manufactured remotes of such kind but i guess you can make one yourself. You need two 2,5 stereo male jacks, a button (or dual button or two buttons), button case plus some wires. If you aren't good at soldering maybe you can find a workshop to bring the components together.

Re: Single-camera scanner design with pix

Oh man! I miss those blue bags, they were everywhere in markets in Russia. So convenient, sturdy and cheap. Dan, this particular bag isn't THAT kind of bags. It's from local IKEA ;) The sports bag I used to carry the scanner before was lost in an accident - a leak of essential oil. A bag from IKEA ...

Re: Single-camera scanner design with pix

Thank you Anton. So far I find your design best for my budget (single camera) and needs (newer books). I'll probably have some questions for you. always welcome Does your setup have any problems supporting heavy/large dimension books -- maybe >5 lbs This very scanner isn't suitable for too large an...

Re: Single-camera scanner design with pix

This post gives a few more details on my build as Jack (o3h1p) requested ( http://www.diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=688 ). Below is the drawing with the basic sizes. http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/8776/smalldrw.jpg There's an aluminium frame attached to the plexiglass platen. It is ...

Re: Marketing forecast.

If you plan to spend $60 on some creative construction, it means that the actual costs would be around $100 ;)

(just advising to make business calculations as conservative, as they rationally can come out)

Good luck!!!

Re: Minimum requirements for book scanning

why do you suggest placing the book like in the V-craddle if you apparently use one single phone looking straight downwards? Complex scanners are mostly the matter of convenient use for digitizing hundreds of pages. If you occasonally need to scan a few pages that can be done without anything but th...

Re: flipper&scanner

I really would like to build my own book flipper, not just a book scanner. I know at least 3 models, but I think the only "affordable" one for home-making is this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/schwartzray/2771830110/ This machine is very complex, maybe to be suitable for different kinds of book...

Re: Please VOTE - Help Establish A Digitizing Facility

Hi! I have voted for your startup as it would be great if your facility gives the clients what they need, regardless of the technologies and investments. This summer i was trying hard to find a wide scanner for lease for a week and failed to, at any price. And I also thought why not to buy one (a br...

Re: When the Internet and all Electronics Hard-Reset

Guys, let's not confuse gamma rays from a supernova with EMPs from, say, an unfriendly foreign power or terrorist organization. An EMP is energetic electrons and gamma rays are high frequency photons. Completely different critters. I think I hinted that if we experience a serious gamma ray flux eve...
