Re: Monson's Full Auto Scanner Build #5

Thanks, dtic. Yes, I am inspired by the excellent work done by our member, Moose. You are correct about the wooden hold-down. It is there to keep the book from closing up by itself and also for mounting an air jet. For this video the speed was increased but this machine will never be very fast compa...

Re: I built "Auto page flip Scanner"

I like this scanner very much. So many reasons to admire it. I especially like the mechanism for raising and lowering the vacuum box platen. This design could also be used with a conventional platen in a semi-automatic scanner. Thanks to the builder, Moose, for sharing this machine and including ver...

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!

:) We have people actively patenting ideas from the forum and one particularly lame actor cloning the old scanner in China and charging a fortune for them, flaws and all. Hey Daniel, are you willing to elaborate more on who is trying to patent ideas from this forum and also who is having your desig...

Re: Monson's Full Auto Scanner Build #5

Needed a laptop stand to attach to the frame. Adapted a yard-sale sourced fishing rod holder originally designed for boat mounting. Suprisingly well- constructed with heavy duty ball and socket joint. Tag says $5 so I prolly paid $3. Heh. IMG_1638.JPG IMG_1639.JPG IMG_1641.JPG IMG_1642.JPG IMG_1644....

Re: Monson's Full Auto Scanner Build #5

Great update! I'm very curious how the double sheet detector will perform. Do you have the parts for it already and have done some tests with it? I bought some ultrasonic transducers and talked our own Daniel Reetz into rigging them up for testing. It's not like he's got nothing else to do, right? ;)

Been working on getting some hardware screwed together. Next come controls, switches, valves, controllers, wires, tubes, revisions, cursing etc.

Re: semi auto platen moto - motorized platen brainstorm

Seems to me that the ultimate semi-auto scanner would do everything but flip pages. I imagine a speed control, an on/off hand switch, and a "deadman switch" footswitch. As long as the footswitch is depressed the cycle continuously repeats: Cameras fire, platen raises, timed pause, platen lowers, cam...

Re: Monson's Full Auto Scanner Build #5

Those 80/20 linear bearings are expensive, so I made a cheap sliding t-slot with brake. Skate bearings, paper shims, plywood, carriage bolts, springs, hand-nut. slide together.JPG slide apart.JPG close slide.JPG Thanks for the support. dtic: If you would, start a new thread for semi-auto. I think we...
