Re: PTP Cameras: A List

I tried to filter the gphoto2 remote capture list for 8+ megapixels (which I think would be enough for scanning many regular sized novels) still being widely sold (excluding used cameras for re-sale) and with a low price tag. I found none  These are the best/least worst I could find: http://www...

Re: PTP Cameras: A List

Ok. I misread the gphoto2 docs page then - I thought PTP would imply remote capture, but it seems that only a subset of PTP cameras can do remote capture. Canon has a matrix (october 11, 2010) of canon cameras that does/does not support remote capture here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/sta...

Re: PTP Cameras: A List

Thank you. Re lists getting outdated, I found this from gphoto faq useful ( http://www.gphoto.org/doc/manual/FAQ.html#FAQ-camera-support ): "Is my camera supported? Possible answers:" ... "no, but it is listed as PictBridge(tm) or PTP compatible. Then the camera will likely work without changes to t...

Re: flipper&scanner

Hi jumpjack. I'm not sure how (in your linked image) the green arm will actually help solve multi page grab problems. Can you elaborate on that? An alternative that works pretty well in my test build is simply gravity: grab the page, move it up a bit and hold it steady for a second or two. If multip...

Re: Adding positionally aware ocr to a djvu scan

I updated tiffdjvuocr to now use Tesseract 3 (from 2). Thereby ImageMagick is no longer needed. That only makes installs easier. I haven't added any new features. http://nod5.dcmembers.com/tiffdjvuocr.html

[suggestion] improving UI for review at Select Content step

(disclaimer: I know Tulon prioritizes new core features (which is great!) and not smaller user interface tweaks. I'm anyway writing this as something to consider at a later time or maybe if some other dev comes along and does UI tweaks.) Scan Tailor sometimes miss out on header/footer content like p...

Re: auto page turner prototype

Ok have ordered both 2003/2004 chips now. I have counterweighted the platen and it needs little force to move so I'll test this setup first: stepper -- spool -- wire -- pulley -- platen. I'm a bit worried about the drawer slides jamming or at least giving irregular friction that will jam things or m...

Re: auto page turner prototype

Thanks again, very cool but let's pause any parts sending for now. I really want to avoid branching out more right now and new parts also means new possibilities to think through... So for now my sole aim is to just get through the electronics steps as easily as possible. Then I can get back to the ...

Re: auto page turner prototype

Daniel: sorry I was unclear when writing "stronger". I just meant to say something with more power than the tiny servos I use for the other parts in the machine, which the stepper I have already has I think. So I'll first try to get that stepper up and running. But thanks a lot for the kind offer! (...

Re: auto page turner prototype

I'm still stuck on the platen movement. Or rather I got stuck, tried several times to get unstuck and, failing that, have put the project on hold. This is completely due to my lack of electronics skills (and lack of time to aquire some), not because the project itself is extremely hard or complex. O...
