Re: I built "Auto page flip Scanner"

This is really, really, cool!! Congratulations on this excellent build. Thank you for sharing it with us! This really reminds me of the designs from Aegre Reminiscence and also from Jck57 - were you inspired by their work? Unfortunately, I can't understand Japanese, so I can't see if you give them ...

Re: Monochrome Hangs

Yeah, johnelle, you've got it right - always scan in color, as much info as possible, and then feed that to your postprocessing engine. Monochrome mode is only an option because one user found a book page that crashed his cameras! It's ironic that it crashes your cameras when you try to use it in a ...

Also, the cameras onboard are currently Nikon J1s - definitely not $1K cameras.

Re: Internet Archive tabletop Scribe scanner (TT Scribe)

Also there's a shout-out to Daniel Reetz and this forum at the end. I had to ask for that, and I've asked them several times to share their source files, which were derived from mine, and they haven't. So good for them, but sorry for them, too. On one hand, I'm happy that the Archive finally adopte...

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!

I want purchase the Archivist, but it says that there isn't shipping to Catalonia (Spain). is there any option? I could assume the shipping costs. I can definitely ship to you - contact me at my email (danreetz@gmail.com) and we can work something out. The store doesn't support it yet, but I will. ...

Re: Scanning stand for smartphones and tablets

I banned fopydo (twardega) because he actively patents scanning tech and uses the forum only to link to his closed-source stuff. In general, scanning companies with interesting products are welcome here, but this guy is not.

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!

How odd, this topic was just locked for me. I unlocked it. Hi! We will purchase The Archivist this next week, but I have few questions about it. 1) You recommend this 16MP cameras. is they enough? do you recommend another camera with more resolution? http://diybookscanner.myshopify.com/blogs/news/14...

Re: Book Liberator beta

I'm glad to see the Liberator launching. Our collective experience agrees 100% with the points raised here. Lifting that frame several hundred times will be hard on the body. The acrylic alone will be 1lb 9oz. The cameras and the wood-colored frame will appear in the scans (perhaps they can be proce...
