Re: Output Background Color for Mixed & B/W

Let me give you my point of view. You should not use Adobe Acrobat for assembling scans into PDFs. There two separate reasons for that: 1. Using a proprietary software is not a good idea in general. 2. Adobe Acrobat is just a bad tool for this kind of a job. I completely disagree. Here's why: Acrob...

Re: Output Background Color for Mixed & B/W

That's great the pdftk author is a member here. I could use his expertise: I just did a test run of this software and noticed pdftk doesn't render an appropriate white background to be inverted & color changed within ereading apps of such capability. This inversion is specifically pertaining to mixe...

Re: Anti-Reflective Glass

Spam uses this stuff, I think. You can find it at Michael's arts & crafts. Corning is even planning on an anti-glare Gorilla Glass in 2011. Hopefully they figure out further hardness scratch resistance. How bad is your glare? Can you throw up a few images of the glare you're experiencing? I tend to ...

Re: Output Background Color for Mixed & B/W

And getting back to this post: I wanted to do a follow up and more or less educate myself on the idea of 'backgrounds' in PDF construction. there is no real intent to praise Adobe or pdftk. It's more about asking Tulon a couple questions about would-be background scenarios and the idea of backgroun...

Re: Output Background Color for Mixed & B/W

remember: Adobe is nothing; pdftk can do everything... it is preferable do not recommend any adobe product, specially when other opensource tools exist, able to perform the same task or tasks adobe cannot perform in addition to this, since not everybody has enough money to spend in adobian shopping...

Re: Output Background Color for Mixed & B/W

Some interesting notes here: ST doesn't apply any backgrounds to the TIFFs. The white regions around text and imagery isn't actually a background. Maybe this is what was tried to explained to me (Thanks Tulon). What does achieve the inversion of colors in ereading apps is the addition of a backgroun...

Re: Microsoft Kinect: infrared depth maps for dewarping?

Fundamental hardware placement of both the Kinect + SLR: Don't both of these devices need to be centered above the subject matter in the same location? How does this work when you have 2 devices fighting for space to survey the same field? or maybe the kinect shoots at an angle, the camera overhead?

Re: Tripod recommendation

I'm not sure why you're trying to take macro photographs. My own experience has been that macro gives me barrel distortion when photographing books. Though I imagine univurshul's "go to" software, Lightroom 3, has something that fixes it, my preference is to avoid it in the first place. Yep, the co...

Re: Software Requests (Besides Dewarping)?

Anonymous, As you process more and more books in Scan Tailor, you'll routinely notice that ST's auto-content selection box crops away the page number quite frequently (for various reasons). You of all people may have an interest in creating a fixed content selection box within the ST environment to ...
