Re: Looking for Czur Scanner Used

Yes it comes with both foot pedal and hand button. There are a few videos on youtube that give a idea of speed but none document a book of say 500 pages through scanning and OCR. I have done no real testing. I used a old notebook for the program and down loading the scans which was useless.Transferr...

Re: College student wants to build automatic scanner

Hi I was waiting to reply for a Czur ET 16 scanner to turn up to see if it was suitable for you. The first one got lost but have now received a replacement. I have not had the time or space to test it out so far. There is a recent post here about building a automatic scanner for around $10,000 (with...

Re: Looking for Czur Scanner Used

Hi I have just received my Czur ET16. Had a check to see that it worked but have not had the opportunity to do some testing. To see if OCR is better than what I am doing now etc. Other than a computer I do not see that you will need any add-ons. This may depend on what you are doing or what you want...

Re: College student wants to build automatic scanner

Hi You asking a lot. Cheap and automatically do not seem to go together. A cheap scanner would be one made from PVC piping. It was designed by David Landin, he has provided plans and videos on its construction and use. You will find details on this site. You can scale up the scanner for large books....

Re: My DIY Scanner

I wrote before seeing the post above This link is the epub file of the two pages. If all pages were processed the same size and the dimensions were set the same, things would be a lot easier. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ijsss7sx49ke93b/test%20file%205.epub?dl=0 The first page had mostly non text error...

Re: My DIY Scanner

This is a challange. What is the page size or what is covered by the photos. At 180 pixels one page is 29.72 by 36.32 cm and the other 31.07 by 54.69 cm. Is there a reason for the different dimensions. I am sure the font size is not 28 which is required for this page size.

Re: My DIY Scanner

I am also doing some work making epub file for my ereader using Omnipage (19 or Ultimate) for OCR. These are public domain books that some one else is scanning and making available as a searchable pdf. My process is 1. select only one font (I have chosen -Times New Roman) ie. force Omnipage to use o...

Re: how to remove punch holes automatically?

Do you have Acrobat? The redaction tool may be the answer. Redact to 'no colour'. I do not have Acrobat running on my machine at the moment to check. I am assuming redaction tool will redact the whole doc.

Re: how to remove punch holes automatically?

One of the features of Omnipage is Image Enhancement which has a number of tools, one being 'Punch Hole Remover'. This however would not remover the Punch Holes in this case. Doing OCR did. I expect because the holes looks like the moon on it back it did not conclude them to be Punch Holes so never ...

Re: how to remove punch holes automatically?

A searchable image also come with errors which cannot be seen until one copy and pastes. If the error is a word to be searched it will never be found. All editing takes time whether text or image. The quality of original and the jpeg is very good so would not expect many errors.
