Re: how to remove punch holes automatically?

If you were to OCR without an image as said the punch holes are not seen. Text without holes.pdf By having no image you cannot be 100% certain the OCR has every thing right. I notice the copyright symbol was not picked correctly. OCR programs can be trained so this is not repeated. The size of OCR t...

Re: pdf library search optimization

I do not know of other indexing methods besides Acrobat Indexing which I use. As for speed I just checked SSD vs HD. 107 years of magazines. For testing I search on 'China'. SSD 5sec HD 5+sec. Increasing the number of documents to 188 (Books & other years of magazines) increased the search time to 7...

Re: ABBYY finds too many different styles

Another area to look at is how to save. In Omnipage there are 30+ file types to save in and then each one has options, I am sure ABBYY is the same.
Perhaps looking at file types and options you will find what you are after.

Re: ABBYY finds too many different styles

Although not a Abbyy user, I would look out for, OCR Options - Font Matching. I am sure you can choose a single font for output. Default may be all fonts in your system. Which is where your problem has come from.
I doubt you can force ABBYY re font size, bold etc.

Re: Calling from Frankfurt am Main in Germany

Hi I am using Omnipage instead of ABBYY Finereader but I guess they both work the same way. The amount of text editing is dependent on the quality of the scan. Some books require editing on every page others only a few. For epub I need to remove headers and page numbers so they do not turn up in the...

Re: Most performing OCR program

I expect I scanned at 300dpi as usual. It was the first and only time I had scanned typed and duplicated pages. The ones kept may have been the worst ie. the good ones were distributed. I used a typewriter font to look more like the original.

Re: Most performing OCR program

I also use Omnipage. It came with a scanner a few years ago so have kept using it upgrading as needed. Have tried Acrobat v9 but had no way of editing. Have used Omnipage mostly for books, minutes and magazines to produce pdf files. Magazines and books with the same subject I index with Acrobat to m...

Re: How should I create OCR text from existing DJVU image-only file and make a searchable text layer in the DJVU file?

I used InFix just to give the pdf file a reasonable page size so the OmniPage would accept it. The conversion from djvu to pdf produced pages 45 by 35 inches. I mostly used Infix for editing, it is good for moving whole text boxes or pictures away from the edges ie gutters. Had not used the OCR feat...

Re: How should I create OCR text from existing DJVU image-only file and make a searchable text layer in the DJVU file?

I see InFix in UK is 6 pounds a month I have been using it for a while now, the new version 7 is by subscription rather than buying outright. If you have a lot of material at once a one month sub may be worthwhile. I would have thought Acrobat would do it. Googling I am not to sure. Most say print t...
