Re: Platen - how to build/best materials
Hello alyh, and welcome! I think you should start by reading this thread: http://www.diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1149 I believe there was also a thread where all this stuff was explained a little bit different, but I can't seem to find it. It had some drawings. BTW, how big is ...

Re: Announcing the Archivist Scanner and a Beta Program!
After the announcement of the beta test program, we received many fantastic applications, and we had to make a difficult call -- we only had few scanners to deliver. The first results are now showing up -- improvements in hardware, software and packaging for the new model are continuously being made...

Re: crowdsourced transcription instead of OCR
Here you can find a really comprehensive list of projects that are using crowdsourced transcription: http://melissaterras.blogspot.com.ar/2010/03/crowdsourcing-manuscript-material.html But I think that is not a question of "transcription instead of OCR". Normally all these projects use OCR...

Re: Attachment upload issue...
If it's a forum host issue, we'll have to ask Daniel. It seems that this might be a forum host issue, because right now, the size of an attachment is not limited in the ACP, at least from what I was able to see. Not that I know much of forums...

Re: Attachment upload issue...
As I see it right now in the ACP, it doesn't seem to be a file size limit for attachments:
how big is your attachment?

Re: Hackerspace scanner, the laser cut version
Why buying bearings to Asia? Bearings are something really easy to find, and normally they are cheap. And you only need 20 bearings for the whole scanner. It's only worthed to order if you are going to use a lot of bearings, which I believe is not the case! Just a suggestion for you. Really nice loo...

Re: Introducing spreads: command-line workflow tool
So, I abandoned the installation of the GUI on Linux Mint for now, but I'm having trouble to shoot the camera (I've bought a A2200 just to try how this works). When I plug the camera to the computer and try tu run Spreads, the camera turns off. Do you know what might be causing the problem? I don't ...
