Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
I'm sorry but I still do not see why we still cannot have this feature implemented, just because its main purpose is only for Scans and Pictures to process DOES NOT MEAN a PDF extraction and inputter back into a PDF cannot be coded into Scantailor (nothing is off limits for open source). because th...

Re: Converting PDF to ePub Calibre not working
I guess that Abbyy FineReader or OmniPage may be more convenient tools, but I have only little experience with them. Thanks for the clarification on Acrobat joining lines to paragraphs -- but Acrobat would have to do guesswork. I use ABBYY FineReader. I got the version 6 "Sprint" as add o...

Re: Converting PDF to ePub Calibre not working
BTW, Callibre is not the best available epub converter (although is the best epub editor) so I personally prefer to export .docx (or .odt) using other tools, e.g.there are Libreoffice extensions for that. The epub file may be imported to Callibre, finally edited and sent to e-book reader. Calibre i...

Re: Converting PDF to ePub Calibre not working
And don't forget to convert most line breaks into spaces, so that you have free flowing text for the Epub. It is better to use another OCR which does not keep the line breaks as Acrobat does, if the ultimate goal is an EPUB. PDF is meant to present the look of each page as the PDF creator has intend...

Re: 100-page handwritten guestbook workflow?
I am missing Scan Tailor in the list of your software. See the section on Scan Tailor in the "Software and processing" group of this forum. This is very useful for de-skewing the images and finding the actual borders of the paper. As to the form of publication, I allow myself to list some ...

Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
By the way, as it comes to extracting images from pdf files, the best tool I know is pdfimages from the poppler set. It allows for real extraction of images whereas Adobe Acrobat (at least Pro DC 2015 version I have access to) renders them. Ah, thanks. That is interesting, since I use Acrobat 8 Pro...

Re: Scan Tailor Advanced
Scantailor's main purpose is to prepare text images into a PDF, No, that is not Scan Tailor's main purpose. Its purpose is the production of clear and crisp images ready for OCR or other processes from original scans or photographies. It is good practice not to lump together a whole lot of unrelate...

Re: "Selecting Content" and then constructing pages in step "Margins"
I'm working on the new STA version 1.0.15 that will have the guides feature directly relating to your problem. That URL leads not to some text explaining that feature. That said, could you please say here some words on this "page box" feature, and possibly also about those "guides&qu...
