Re: Monson's Full Auto Scanner Build #5
Made a bigger cradle. Aluminum frame enlarged. Horizontal air slide remade with drawer glides. Drawer glides on the cradle aren't used with this scanner. Center roller is removable because some books' spines are too stiff for it. As for semi-auto: I think a cordless drill with a spool in the chuck c...

Camera Attachment: The frame used for the scanner is tubular aluminum with a 1-1/16" OD. Any suggestions on what to use for attaching the cameras to the frame? You could use a #2 Minerallac pipe clamp. Add a 1/4-20 bolt, nut, and wingnut to the clamp for attaching the camera. These cheap pipe ...

Re: Need Help Programming Arduino for Auto Scanner
Steve and I have been communicating and I'm happy to say he's willing and obviously able to handle the Arduino programming. I just got heat in my shop (current outside temp is - 4 F, - 20 C ) so hopefully I can begin to catch up on the hardware so the testing can get started. Hello, dbmoura. Great t...

Re: Need Help Programming Arduino for Auto Scanner
Daniel: Thank you for that amazingly generous offer. steve1066d: Thanks for your interest. I'll try to explain. Because of my very limited ability with C programming, I initially thought it might be easier to use two microcontrollers: the Pololu to handle all the servos except the LIFT servo and the...

Need Help Programming Arduino for Auto Scanner
I made an automatic book scanner with hobby servos: http://www.diybookscanner.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1180&hilit=servo&sid=833a1a44d51696d06eae3f1703f68e53#p11311 First I controlled the servos with an Arduino Uno and later with a Pololu Maestro. Now, I want to get more complicated...

Re: Full Auto Brainstorming
Any Arduino programmers out there? Help. This may be the rough idea: The photoresistor is calibrated for a single page of the particular book loaded into the machine. Page faults are detected by tripping the low or high limits set by the limit pots. A low fault means not enough light, which means lo...
