Re: Outline of software to use

@ ManoH: First tell the good people on what operating system you're working. Maybe it will be easier to reply with a solution.

Go to http://diybookscanner.org/wiki/index.ph ... o_Software for different OCR packages which could be used.

Re: All threads that mention LiveCD/Linux development

@Snaguy I've visited the Communtu site. Interesting, maybe this is also interesting for others. There are 3715 pages with names of packages which can be put into an bundle. I took some of them to show you and others as a reference of possibilities. I looked to the first 75 pages and here is the resu...

Re: All threads that mention LiveCD/Linux development

What to call this release? BSubuntu may be one choice but BS is often short for Bull Sh*t. So any suggestions would be welcome! What do you think of: Linux on documents v 10.10 (LOD v10.10) or Ubuntu on documents v 10.10 (UoD v 10.10) I specialy refer to documents because one can scan all kind of p...

Re: All threads that mention LiveCD/Linux development

What to exclude from the CD to make space? When I get to this point I will have a look at what can be chopped. Where to host the CD images? Suggestions welcome. Why take a cd, just make it an DVD with all the goodies you can think of. Burning a 20 cent dvd against a 10 cent cd. Or make it an instal...

Re: Fix Keystoning via hardware adjustments

@ dpc: How did you get that x mark in your display? Is it standard in your camera display or is it something which you added into CHDK or SDK? @Eppi: A very nice addition towards the explanation from jay. That was the last part which I have not included in the Excel sheet yet, due to a short holiday...

Re: Scanning Plastic Books

I am still curious about the warping effect occuring Skids, is the plastic covering the photo's warped? So is there air in between? Or is this caused by the inaccurate placing of the camera. I mean, is the camera placed in a 90 degrees angle to the album you take photographs from? In the picture of ...

Re: Defuse the light

Well summer has been a bummer. It rained most of the days and my scanner still hasn't been build. So I can't show my theory in practice.

Re: Scanning Plastic Books

Isn't it possible to temporaraly remove the plastic. I have photo albums from the 70's which fall apart because the adhesive plastic has lost it's glue-ing effect. It will take more time lifting the plastic sheet and putting it back, but it will negate the reflection and the curves. Otherwise you bu...

Re: alternative to abbyy?

Snaguy: I used Snagit to record the video. Don't you mean Camtasia from Techsmith, also the makers of Snagit. I have never been working with Abby Finereader, but it sure looks very nice. Do you have to purchase a special edition of Abby or is this possible even in the cheaper versions. (I see you h...
