Re: the book liberator project
Finding that is what sparked my interest in this area, but after watching the brief video it also seemed that your arm would fall off before you finished a book. ;) Too much lifting, and that can't be entirely a light piece of equipment. On the other hand, many designs here seem to be far more stabl...

Re: how to preview BOTH camera images in one single monitor
This is currently selling at $70 US from Buy.com - maybe an option? But again, it would save space but probably not much on cost because monitors can be had fairly cheap.

Re: 4 Hours Ago I had Junk and Now I have
I'm encouraged by your post - everyone seems like the A590 is the divine camera for this application. I don't know, at 8MP, and at the price (even for refurbed), It seemed to me that the A490 [edit: I got A480's not A490's] was a far better price-value deal. 10MP - I picked up a pair for $65/ea over...

Re: Building Scan Tailor on OSX
when I run it on a mixed folder, but it seems that Scan Tailor can't quite grasp the png image, which is left with a question mark in "Select content/Margins". This of course means that one can't get to "Output" as the final size of pages isn't decided. I just ran a batch on the...

Re: Building Scan Tailor on OSX
I still do not believe it was the issue, but I suppose it could have been. If it were, wouldn't the errors in the crash dump have pointed to some function trying to actually utilize the library functions? It was crashing in the QEventLoop::exec method. I was puzzled by that, which is why I tried a d...

Re: Light mount height?
I like the design . . Although similar to the one Rob posted, I think you should put it on a new thread to make it easier to find, and if you have time to put some measurement or construction notes in there to help others. Like me.

Re: A better platen movement design
Okay, I'm having a dense moment here... How does this second one (with the photos with the yellow walls) operate? Are the weights a counterweight, or how does it work? Sorry, not visualizing it. This one is very similar, and easily visualized for me. Put some camera mounts on there and it would be v...

Re: Building Scan Tailor on OSX
Thanks for the advice, Tulon, but I looked into that and it is not the problem. It was some quirky behavior in that version of Qt I suspect, because moving to the latest beta fixed it. Also, when using the old version, that is why I intentionally statically linked the scantailor binary with versions...

Re: OCR/ScanTailor ported in Visual Basic(Gambas) or Linux
For what it's worth, I think Tulon has done a most fabulous job, and has chosen cross-platform tools. The app builds on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X without problems. You can't say that about a lot of stuff out there. And, that is not to say that hooks couldn't be put into Scan Tailor to call externa...
