Re: Making my scanner on the CNC

It looks very promising.

Isn't there a possibility to block further down movement of your machine to prevent drilling into your table?

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

I think I have found a good way to handle the glass using a 1/4" bit so as not to require a tool change. Create your channels for the glass leaving 1/8" of material on the bottom edge (See drawing). This would allow you to replace the glass as needed. Then just use some 1/8" diameter...

Re: A DIY Book Scanner In Every Hackerspace /DIY Kit

Wouldn't a couple more channels make it adjustable enough? Maybe a flat along the length of the round dowel for infinite adjustment? Or do you want to avoid having to make any adjustments at all? Yes, that would work, but it's a pain to adjust the book while scanning. I would like to make a system ...

I'd be interested in pooling with someone once a few of the earliest kinks are worked out. I'm in the NYC metro area. I don't know anyone else in town interested in having one of their own. To everyone who is interested in joining with others. First step is to complete your member profile. Put your...

Re: Daniel Speaking At Open Hardware Summit 2011 - watch liv

I hardly can't wait for the final drawing. I hope the drawing will be accompanied with the dimensions since I don't have a laser cutter. But can use a small handsaw. Ah, school days are coming back to my mind. If the seperate parts can be printed seperately onto A3 or A4 paper then cut out and then ...

I hope you made a video by yourself seeing the poor quality of the videos already posted. Yours are usely much bett...

Re: Add hidden text layer from different pdf files

I wonder if you have the original pictures what will happen if; A: You use comical to use the original photo's to make a zip or rar file of them. Will zipping them make it much smaller. It won't be searchable. B: You use the commercial OCR software ABBYY Finereader to scan your magazines and have a ...

Re: $DUTCH DESIGN SCHOOL WILLING TO RENT SCANNER$

Direct help is to be found at the university in Eindhoven, they have a Zeutschel OS 12000 Bookcopy. Contact the university about the possibilities and cost. You need a harddisk with USB connection to store your scans. When I used it last year it was free to use for everybody, now I don't know. It is...

Re: Platen: Theory And Practice

(I'll add a diagram later to better visualise), but you have the camera optical axis centered on the platen which messes up my perfect theoretical world!! I'm thinking that the distance of the camera from the edge of the platen will change the platen angle required to hide the reflection. ie. If th...
