Re: Upgrade idea for centering the camera on the standard sc

Thanks for clarifying what I was trying to say, Jakob. There's another issue that can cut into your DPI and that's due to the inexpensive lenses that are on a lot of these compact digital cameras. For example, my Canon A495s begin to soften the image the farther you get away from the center of the f...

Re: Upgrade idea for centering the camera on the standard sc

... So, if you want to scan books of A5 size or any smaller books than A4, as we understood, you lose loads of pixels getting lot worse quality. As our cameras are far from 600 dpi it is really important to keep at least the quality that we already have. ... This is a common misunderstanding. If yo...

The output of that light is 1/5 of the typical 30W LED floodlight (2400lm).

Re: Bindery

Using Windows XP SP3. When I downloaded Bindery 2.7.0 and started Bindery.exe, I first got a message about missing msvcr100d.dll (a visual studio file). After I found and installed that file manually in the System directory, I am getting the error: "The exception unknown software exception (0x...

This might have something to do with it...
From the Canon DSLR SDK docs: Note that EDSDK does not support opening sessions with more than one camera at once.

Re: Software question

That's unfortunate. I did manage to find a website offering an older (4.2) demo version of the Atiz software for download. Who knows if that's legit or it's just a trojan horse. I avoid downloading things like that to keep from infecting my machines, so I'm not going to post the link here. I should ...

This one looks pretty nice: Atiz BookDrive Capture

Don't know how much it costs though. I think they offer a limited demo version.

Re: Self-Adjusting Spine Support

Thanks for the posting the picture of your scanner - that helps. (Good work, BTW!) If you open that book that is pictured in your scanner to the exact middle of the book, then ensure that the spine is supported against the flat cradle bottom, can you then get the platen to go down into the gutter, f...

Re: Cardboard box training rig - first book done!

Wow, what a hassle. If it were me, I would try to find out what was the cause of this (CHDK bug/setting or switch bounce) rather than work on an efficient way to determine and reshoot the missing pages and eliminate the duplicates. Have you tried triggering the camera by hand instead of using your r...
