Re: Shankha's 0.9.9 build
Re the book moving during page turns. The problem isn't the platen rolling but rather the book sliding ever so gently backward if I (by mistake) push it during the page turn. See my picture below. As you see I've got this ruler clamped on to keep the book from sliding. Of course it doesn't work if ...

Re: Differnt text area size in odd and even pages
Just to make I understand the problem correctly: In the original book the text area is the same on even and odd pages?
If that's the case the problem should be solved by giving ScanTailor the correct DPI for even and odd pages and the problem should be solved.

Re: Need fast help to TiF -> Searchtable PDF (OCR) SWEDISH
I've used Tesseract and PDFbeads (via Homer, http://bookscanner.pbworks.com/w/page/45602013/How%20to%20install%20the%20software ) on Danish texts with what looks like good results so that might work for Swedish too. Doesn't matter anything for reading, just a question on how likely it is that a sear...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...
I tried experimenting with the different settings and did put the opacity setting down at some point but might not have been quite down to 30 - perhaps 40. I just tried 30 to see how it looked and it was close but still a few white pixels in the big "H". Perhaps I could have gotten better ...

Re: Bitonal conversion using Photoshop (Gimp & Imagemagic...
I just did at small test using Gimp 2.8 and everything seemed to work fine. I used the first version of the script but I guess it's unlikely that matters. I took a single shot of an old bible I have for the test. It's good for this test since it's printed in fraktur with a lot of fine details, some ...

Have you tried setting it to "manual" instead of "auto"?

Re: DPI calculation to compensate for incorrect zoom setting
b) After thinking a bit, I'm not convinced that the X and Y DPI should be made the same, particularly if the tool allows you to specify different DPI's for X and Y. I know the dimensions of the physical page are 8.5"x11". The pixel dimensions of the page can be any value, (dependent upon ...

Re: Learning to Create Tiny DJVU files
I just wanted to say: Keep up the good work!
I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these things and DJVU is not something I have an interest in but PDF I do. And I can see this being very usefull down the road for a lot of people. So the least I can do is encourage you to go on

Re: DPI calculation to compensate for incorrect zoom setting
Before making this very complicated I just want to mention what I would do with the software I'm using since I had a similar problem the other day. It was a short book so I fixed it in ScanTailor by setting the DPI manually for one half of the pages. Don't think there's a easier way in ScanTailor si...
