Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

Now the weekend is here i decided once and for all to test out speed performance of Tulon's new STE verses his old ST 9.11.1. Additionally i wanted to test the speed performance differences selecting either/or OpenGL and Open CL (with GPU and CPU alternatively). My system is Windows 7-64bit / 16GB r...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

d14b0ll0s wrote:thanks for checking; so with CPU multi-thread support only (w/o GPU) this would be somewhere in 25-30% gain range, according to the numbers from your previous post;
no. this is far more than 20-30% gain

you are talking 2min50sec
versus 5min+

this is like 180% gain.

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

I think the way to compare curved lines deskewing times in ST911 and STE is to add the time needed to complete stages 3 and 6 in STE and compare it against ST911's stage 6 with deskewing on. i ok i redid the above comparison using as you suggested stage 3,4 & 6 and the result is 1 min:56 sec this i...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

-- file sizes for OCR'ed PDFs are as follows: 1546KB, 1603KB, 1496KB for the small sample I tried, so the largest with 1,5x, the smallest with 2x. I will look at the speeds on Mini, and I might actually consider using 2x output considering the speed gain, since I work with those output PDFs a lot a...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

benchmarking only the Curved lines function in STE. 100 samples pages from the previous 918 pages benchmarked in previous post Open CL checked and selected GTX465 = 1min 38sec Open CL checked and CPU i7-3770 selected = 6min 15sec Open CL unchecked = 3min 05sec So d14b0ll0s is correct. i.e. leaving O...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

the link will give you an idea my current CPU vs the machine you are looking at on Amazon www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2243&cmp[]=2 my cpu is just a tad faster www.videocardbenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2561&cmp[]=82 however your amazon GTX760 craps all over my GTX465. So i would hope yo...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

I think this should prove to be a nice portable machine for image processing: http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-i7-4710HQ-Barebone-Components-GB-BXi7G3-760/dp/B00OJZVGFU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 . Both CPU and Graphics on-board are faster than what i've got. I'll check some benchmarking websit...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

i'm on 4-core full blown i7-3770 additionally i'm using a GTX465 graphics card Win7 Now i understand with 2-cores and onboard graphics engine may not be giving the performance hit i am experiencing. Especially with 14mpix photos. My scans are the standard run of the mill 300 dpi scans using canon de...

Re: Scan Tailor "Experimental"

Although there was a 15-20% speed improvement at the final stage (#6: Output), the deskewing (#3) part took a little longer than the speed gain from that, i assume you went into TOOLS > SETTINGS and checked the two "Accelerate" options. I'm not sure what CPU or GFX your Ultrabook has but with these...
