Re: Czur ET24 Pro first impressions
Within reasonable time limits, I can provide requested examples of files for certain kinds of scans. I expect that any image inserted in this forum will be resized some unless it is a link to something on a DropBox or similar storage. Thanks for your detailed observations. The forum file size limit...

Re: Czur ET24 Pro first impressions
@aestetix : Looking at the Czur software interface shown in this earlier post the software seems to provide quite comprehensive control of the images captured, have you for example tested scanning using different Greyscale settings, rather than the automatic setting selected in the image? And does ...

Re: Which cropping software do you recommend?
Thinking some more about your request for advice on cropping software, and the fact that there are many softwares that might meet your needs, to some extent the most suitable software for your needs may depend on what you need to do, which if more help might be useful you might like to outline. When...

Re: Which cropping software do you recommend?
For batch cropping I use XnConvert, a really neat cross-platform software which can also apply other enhancements which could be useful such as a levels adjustment; there is also XnResize (Windows-only) which I haven't tried, both from xnview.com . For individual images there are any number of softw...

Re: BOM, part specs, and CAD files for Archivist Quill?
You could try contacting the designer Jonathan duerig.
But there is no certainty that he still visits the forum, and as I believe the Quill was only ever intended to be a commercial product, he might not be easily able, or possibly willing, to provide any information. But there is no harm asking!

Re: Creating smaller PDFs
One of the advantages for the Adobe Acrobat 'ClearScan' output option is that the output file will display an exact image of the scanned page, so even when text recognition is not perfect you will still be able to view the original page. It depends how important complete searchability will be for yo...

Re: Creating smaller PDFs
My earlier Acrobat XI Standard version I think supports batch conversion of source PDF files Would it be too much trouble if you could verify that? Confirmed, as the thread has continued on this general topic I'll post the details here. To set up batch conversion of multiple PDF files to ClearScan ...

Re: Creating smaller PDFs
@ Oliver : Have you had any more thoughts on your proposed project? It seems that both Adobe Acrobat and Abbyy Fine Reader are currently available on monthly plans as an alternative to the standard 12-month plans, needless to say at higher monthly rates. In addition, Adobe Acrobat seems to be availa...

Re: Creating smaller PDFs
Acrobat ClearScan has 4 different settings for what it calls Downsample (options 72, 150, 300 & 600 dpi) When a bitmap image is downsampled, the number of pixels used to display the image is reduced without changing the displayed size of the image on the screen. The detail contained in the imag...
