Mass Production DIY Book Scanner.

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Tagging along.

This sounds very interesting. After having scanned 695/1021 of my aquarium magazine collection on a flatbed scanner, this will really speed up my archive. :D

Sure is... see this thread on the design I produced:

I'm still working on actually selling kits, but you can get one of these cut right now at a local hackerspace.

Wow........ nice scanner. I'm going to wait till you start selling the final product because I am really really really not a handy guy.

Good luck.

Suggestion to save weight

Post by tresho »

 Internal metal panels in aircraft are riddled with holes large & small, situated so that they keep the weight of the entire structure minimal without compromising strength.
If holes were designed & tested to ensure they don't compromise function of a mass-produced DIY scanner, they could then be manufactured by the same CNC routing as is currently done.
That should save on shipping costs.
