I spent a few days looking around on this forum and the wiki. Great stuff! I originally had grand dreams of the ultimate scanner. Then I decided I'm not that ambitious so I built one in about 5 minutes using materials I already had around the house:

I'm glad to say it's working well. I can do a 200 page book in about 15 or 20 minutes. Not including post-processing.
Thanks for the inspiration. Couldn't have done it without you!
Materials:
--Camera
--Tripod
--Duct Tape
--Box
--Skinny, hard book (covered with paper)
--Lamp
The reason I'm scanning books is for my personal language study. I'm learning Italian and it's nice when I learn a new word to search the books I've got digitally and see how it's used. Provides me with lots of good examples.
