Shouldn't be too hard as forstners run on their rim. Sequence of events would be as follows. Take one of the short arms and press the bearing in half way. Take a 7/8 forstner and drill it about a quarter into the plywood drill press table. Flip the arm and use the bearing to locate the arm for the bearing hole on the flip side. Drill for the bearing (you've previously set the depth.) Take the arm off the drill press, drive the press fit bearing the rest of the way. Drop the bearing in the flip side. Done.
I've got bigger problems though. CNC guy at work doesn't want to spend the time locating all of your .dxf files on the plywood and programming the machine. So, I might be back to just cutting the whole thing out anyway....
Sigh, Charles

GaryK thank you! It's all coming together tomorrow morning. I'll try and take some video to post to youtube. We're cutting it out of some interesting plywood that's got more plies than usual, clear finished on one side, and fire engine red on the other. It was left over from a huge project wherein we cut hundreds of decorative panels for a university auditorium. So instead of a black scanner, this will be a red scanner. Go figure...
I owe you.
You've done me a huge favor. I'll pass it on.

Re: .
A note to everyone: I've reached out to GaryK to see how he is doing. I hope it's nothing serious.

Immediately after GaryK's editing spree, I locked his account in case it was a bot or his account was hacked. However, after some members contacted me offline and let me know that they had PM'ed GaryK, I decided to reactivate his account so that he could talk with them or otherwise engage with the forum.
In that time, I also re-instated the title of this thread ("New scanner complete. Here are the drawings."). Today, GaryK logged in just to delete the title of the thread again, and then left. I consider that acting in bad faith.
GaryK, you have my email address. We have a Brand New Day policy here, if you want to become a part of the community again you are welcome to do it in good faith under your old name or a new name. For your comfort I am fine with changing the name associated with your old posts. As of now, you are banned. You are welcome back here anytime, but you have to talk to me first.
An archive of GaryK's posts is available here for people who need them for reference. I threw it together from the Google Cache instead of our official backups because it was faster. I won't keep it online forever.
